About the Role:
As Odyssea'sAccounting Assistant,you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of the organization. You will be responsible for financial monitoring and reporting, procurement, MoU contracting, and providing assistance in accounting matters. This role is integral to ensuring that Odyssea's financial and accounting operations run smoothly, supporting our mission to deliver effective services to our beneficiaries transparently.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist in accounting and financial monitoring to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
- Draft Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with partners and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with financial and accounting regulations and organizational policies.
Main, Day-to-Day Duties:
- Recording purchase, sales and expense documents in the accounting software
- Issuing invoices and submitting data to the AADE myDATA platform
- Monitoring customer and supplier accounts and outstanding balances
- Performing bank and cash reconciliations
- Preparing data for periodic VAT returns and other tax obligations
- Filing and organizing accounting documents, both physical and electronic
- Communicating with clients, suppliers and banks regarding payments and collections
- Assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Handling tasks with public authorities and online platforms (Taxisnet, GEMI, etc.)
- Preparing, processing and monitoring contracts with external partners, such as trainers/instructors, suppliers and clients, including tracking contract terms, deadlines and related payments
- Support the CFO in the preparation of financial audits.
Periodic Duties
- Participate in financial planning meetings and contribute to the development of financial strategies.
- Support the CFO in managing relationships with auditors, banks, and other financial institutions.
- Support in internal HR and accounting tasks.
- Provide training and support to staff on financial policies and procedures.
Skills & Experience Needed for This Role
MUST HAVE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Proven experience (at least 2 consecutive years) in financial management, accounting, or a related role.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g. Pylon Epsilon) will be considered an asset
- Strong understanding of financial principles and accounting practices.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Greek and English.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience in Greek Labour law regulations
GREAT PLUS:
- Familiarity with the non-profit sector.
- Experience with procurement processes and contract management.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including patience and a sense of humor.
- Keen understanding of financial and accounting regulations and compliance requirements.
- Additional certifications in finance or accounting (e.g., CPA, CMA).
- Experience with grant financial reporting.
- Proficiency in English language.
