If your answer is “yes,” then Protective’s Summer Internship Program is perfect for you! Our Internship Program is an annual 8-week program that provides high-performing college students with hands-on experience working with an organization that has been recognized by TIME Magazine as one of America’s Best Companies in 2026. This program will include the opportunity to participate in personal mentoring and insight into our business operations. Interns will have the opportunity to collaborate with business leaders to develop and execute solutions to real business problems. In addition to gaining meaningful work experience, interns will have the opportunity to participate in various community and professional development events.  Program Details: Duration: May 31st- July 30th, 2027 Location: Corporate Office in Birmingham, AL.

Student Criteria:

  • Education: Undergraduate or Graduate students. This program is designed and optimized for rising Junior or Senior Undergraduate students. Students must be actively enrolled in either an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program as of May 31st, 2027 to be eligible.
  • Majors: Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Cyber Security, Data Science or similar.

What You'll Do:

  • Work as an active contributor on a delivery team, supporting real projects throughout the full software development lifecycle 
  • Use AI-powered tools to enhance productivity and support daily engineering activitiesIdentify, design, and implement automation solutions for manual business processes
  • Contribute to software quality through testing, troubleshooting, and documentation
  • Participate in Agile team ceremonies, including stand-ups, planning sessions, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver solutions that meet business and technical requirements
  • Assist with other duties and special projects as assigned to support team objectives

Selection Process:

  • Qualification:Qualified candidates will be invited to interview.
  • Selection Process:Our program receives a lot of interest, and our process starts early. Please be patient as it may take us several weeks to make initial contact with you
  • Interviews:Candidates will be scheduled for an initial 15-minute interview with a recruiter, followed by 1 additional interviews with hiring managers.
Interns will be compensated at a competitive rate of $22-$22/hour, for 40 hours of scheduled work per week over a defined 9 week period.Employee Benefits:  We aim to protect the wellbeing of our employees and their families with a broad benefits offering.
