
Paralegal - Real Estate

The Real Estate Paralegal will be an integral member of our Real Estate and Commercial Development practice group, providing support to attorneys and contributing to a collaborative team environment. This position is based in our Raleigh, North Carolina office and offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced legal professionals on a variety of commercial real estate and development matters.
This non-exempt administrative role reports to the Office Administrator and assigned attorneys and does not have direct reports. The paralegal will work a regular schedule established by the Office Administrator/HR and the attorneys they support. The typical schedule will consist of 7.5 hours per day equating to 37.5 hours per week. The paralegal will work a regular schedule established by the Office Administrator/HR and the attorneys they support. Additional hours (including overtime) will be required on occasion.
 Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Draft, prepare, and organize closing documents
- Prepare closing statements
- Review and plot legal descriptions
- Prepare and file UCC financing statements and amendments
- Organize and coordinate document signing
- Prepare closing binders
- Acquire maps or drawings from surveyor/assessor’s office or title companies
- Research and investigate to identify any restrictions limiting the use of property
- Conduct title examinations
- Prepare reports for title commitment, title insurance and real estate transfers
- Search physical and digital records of title insurance and rest estate companies to gather information on private transactions
- Search physical and digital records of town, city and/or county offices to compile a transaction history and ownership details on an assigned property
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Office Administrator and/or the assigned attorneys

RequirementsÂ
- One to three years or more years of experience as a paralegal in a law firm or legal department and an Associate’s degree, or the equivalent combination of education and experience; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience supporting one or more of the following practice group(s) preferred:
- Transactional
- Real Estate
- Experience using a legal time and billing system
- Proactive and self-motivated with demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as necessary
- Ability to think critically, solve problems effectively, and exercise sound judgment
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, and accommodate rush requests
- Must be a team player, willing to help other team members during peak times
- Superior computer skills, using Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
