Bay Cove Human Services’ mission is to partner with people to overcome challenges and realize personal potential. Bay Cove pursues this mission by providing individualized and compassionate services to people facing the challenges associated with developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance use disorders, and homelessness at more than 175 program sites throughout Greater Boston and Southeastern Massachusetts.
Job Summary: As a member of the Cape Cod CCS/CBHC multidisciplinary team, the Security Navigator provides a calm, welcoming, professional, and safety-conscious presence during evening, overnight, and weekend operations. The Security Navigator monitors the environment, supports staff in maintaining program and site expectations, uses trauma-informed communication and de-escalation, and contacts emergency services when necessary. The role supports safety without replacing clinical decision-making or direct-care responsibilities.
This is a non-exempt position.
Essential Functions of the Position:
Maintains awareness of activity surrounding the building, inside the building, stairways and hallways within the building to ensure a calm environment on the campus and within the building.
Supports other staff in seeing that guidelines in place for the programs and the site are observed and that all persons present act as good collaborators and neighbors.
Intervenes in situations requiring support beyond program staff using good judgment, communication skills, de-escalation techniques, and calling upon emergency services as needed.
Ability to interact with CCS and CBHC leaders and staff in a collaborative and responsive manner.
Maintain clear communication with the Director of Behavioral Health, on-call leadership, and shift staff at Cape Cod CCS/CBHC regarding safety concerns, incidents, visitors, and environmental risks.
Follow Cape Cod CCS/CBHC emergency, incident-reporting, confidentiality, visitor, and escalation procedures.
Support evening and weekend safety coverage;ÂIs dependable and reliable.
Attends required training.
Requirements for the Position:
Schedule/shift:Saturday & Sunday 1pm-9pm.Â
Evening and weekend including holidays; part-time, or per-diem statusÂ
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong commitment to the right of each Person with mental health challenges to live and work in their community, and to have access to helpful, adequate, competent, and continuous support and services of their own choosing.
Professional writing and verbal communications skills.
High degree of personal organization, attention to detail, and time management skills.
Proficiency in word processing and other computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Email and Apps.
Use of personal cellular telephone for work communication.
