Supervisory Responsibilities:

Schedule: Monday - Friday 4:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.

Bay Cove Human Services’ mission is to partner with people to overcome challenges and realize personal potential. Bay Cove pursues this mission by providing individualized and compassionate services to people facing the challenges associated with developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance use disorders, and homelessness at more than 175 program sites throughout Greater Boston and Southeastern Massachusetts.

 
Job Summary: The Director sets the overall direction and provides on-site oversight while administering the day-to-day operations, including outreach, stakeholder relations, utilization review, fiscal/budget management, facilities management, compliance and improvement activities, and reporting. The Director contributes to Bay Cove’s mission by ensuring that services are accessible, inviting, effective, and efficiently operated, thus making the services an ideal environment in which individuals can pursue their personal goals.  

This is an exempt position.

Essential Functions of Position:

  • Collaborate with all members of the team to provide safe, respectful, and compassionate services in a low-threshold environment that is anchored in evidence-based and emerging best practices, including harm reduction and trauma informed care principles. 
  • Engage in staff recruitment, interviewing, hiring, orientation, training, work assignment, supervision, progressive discipline, and performance evaluation in accordance with agency policy for all supervisees.
  • Schedule shift and on-call coverage for all disciplines to ensure minimal staffing requirements are met and manage schedules, PTO requests, and timesheet approval according to agency policy.
  • Collaborate in the development and administration of the program budget, ensuring sound fiscal management via direct oversight of purchasing, verification of invoice accuracy, preparation of check requests and credit card statements, close monitoring of service utilization, and implementation of corrective action when revenue and expenses do not align with agency objectives.
  • Ensure service compliance with all federal and state regulatory mandates, accreditation standards, contractual agreements, reporting requirements, interagency reviews, and Bay Cove Human Services policies and procedures.
  • Complete all quality-assurance activities as scheduled and lead the team in quality improvement activities including identification and implementation of improvement plans.
  • Collaborate with the agency, service area, and program leadership to develop, review, and adjust program policies and procedures as needed.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including community partners, to develop value-add relationships and responsively address the stakeholder concerns, complaints, and grievances, with support from the supervisor as needed.
  • Carry out the duties expected of clinical and direct care staff when staffing levels necessitate up to the point qualified to engage in that task based on skills, experience, and licensure.
  • Provide crisis assessment, prevention, and needed intervention during scheduled hours and while on-call in nights and weekends as scheduled by providing on-call coverage on a rotating basis.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements for the position:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, in psychology or other human service fields preferred.
  • Five (5) years of experience in health or human service-related fields preferred.
  • Five (5) years of experience working with those who are unhoused and those experiencing behavioral health and/or substance use disorders preferred.
  • At least two (2) years experience managing a multidisciplinary program or service, including responsibilities in hiring, supervising, fiscal management, quality assurance and compliance.
  • Demonstrated professional writing, interpersonal, and organization skills.
  • Basic proficiency in word processing and other computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Email and Apps.

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing detection and interpretation of information on documents, monitors, and labels and accompanying response, as well as to identification of equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interaction with providers, colleagues, customers, persons served, and visitors requiring the employee to communicate, as well as detect and interpret information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, occasionally during emergency situations.
  • Frequent communication of accurate information, instructions, and ideas so others will understand. 
  • Operation of complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.  This includes frequent phone and computer use for documenting services, accessing needed information, etc.
  • Bending to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment up to twenty (20) pounds.  
  • Frequent movement throughout the workspace to access, obtain, or distribute supplies (sometimes pushing or pulling equipment), interact with persons served, assist in the transport of persons served, etc.
  • Undertake lifesaving efforts by conducting CPR via the provision of chest compressions and rescue breathing as needed until relieved by medical professionals.
  • Remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time as needed.
