Job Summary

The Cafeteria Worker is responsible for providing excellent customer service while preparing, serving, and displaying food in a safe and sanitary manner. This role supports daily cafeteria operations by maintaining food quality, stocking supplies, operating a cash register, and ensuring a clean and welcoming dining environment. The Cafeteria Worker follows all food safety, sanitation, and organizational standards while contributing to an efficient and positive customer experience.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Prepare, portion, and serve food and beverages according to established recipes, production schedules, and department standards.
  • Provide courteous and professional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Operate cash register and food service equipment accurately and efficiently.
  • Stock and replenish food, beverages, condiments, utensils, and supplies throughout service periods.
  • Maintain attractive food displays and ensure products are properly labeled and presented.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention procedures.
  • Clean and sanitize workstations, equipment, serving areas, dining rooms, and storage areas.
  • Monitor food temperatures and document required food safety records.
  • Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food and supplies using proper inventory practices.
  • Transport food, supplies, and equipment as needed.
  • Dispose of waste properly and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure efficient cafeteria operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Follow departmental policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous food service, cafeteria, restaurant, retail, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Basic cash handling, mathematics; addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division and point-of-sale experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices preferred.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to departmental requirements.

  • Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent standing 100%, walking, stooping, bending, lifting, and reaching.
  • Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, food preparation equipment, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Fast-paced food service environment requiring frequent interaction with customers and staff.
Part-Time, 20 Hours per Week
Shift: 6:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Days: Monday - Thursday
