The Metrology Specialist is responsible for performing routine calibration and maintenance of measurement instruments and equipment under the guidance of senior metrology staff. This entry-level position involves working with a variety of precision tools and technologies to ensure the accuracy and reliability of measurements across the organization. The Metrology Specialist will assist in maintaining calibration records, troubleshooting measurement issues, and supporting the overall quality assurance efforts of the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Perform routine calibrations,measurements, and basic level triaging and repairs on a variety of instruments and equipment, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established standards.
● Record calibration data accurately per GDP and maintain calibration certificates and logs in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
● Assist in the preparation of calibration reports and documentation for audits and quality reviews.
● Assist in identifying and reporting any measurement discrepancies or non-conformances.
● Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in metrology and calibration techniques.
● Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment.
● Communicate with labs to coordinate and schedule calibration/preventative maintenance events
● Evaluate equipment for fitness of use and verification of performance within specified parameters per established calibration procedures
● Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Essential Qualifications:
● Associates degree in Metrology, Mechanical Engineering, or a combination of education, training, and/or experience in a related field. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
● 0-2 years of experience in metrology or a related technical field
● Understanding of basic metrology concepts.
● Ability to follow standard procedures and perform routine calibration tasks.
● Experience authoring and executing calibrations, preventative maintenance, repair work, and other service-related work and documentation
● Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate in-person or via email with internal and external customers from diverse scientific, engineering, operational, and regulatory disciplines
● Adaptability to fast pace changing environment
● Demonstrated independent and self-motivated professional with the capability to handle several tasks with minimal supervision.
● Take part in an on-call rotation with afterhours/weekend response as needed
● Willingness to travel up to 30% as needed

- Demonstrate curiosity, sound judgment, and the ability to critically evaluate and responsibly leverage AI-enabled tools in accordance with company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of work.
Hybrid Work Model:This section is applicable to onsite employees who are eligible for hybrid work location as specified by management and related policies. Guardant has defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time. All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility willbe required to be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use officeequipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratoryenvironment.
