Job Description
Ares is looking for a Senior Associate to join the Revenue and Investment accounting team within Corporate Accounting. The teamis responsible for all of Ares Management Corporation’s fee revenues including Management Fees, Performance Fees, Other Fees, InvestmentIncome and related Placement Feeexpense. Due to significant growth in our business and fee streams we are looking to recruit an ambitious,diligent and analytical senior to help account for multiple fee revenue accounting streams and processes.Â
Primary functions and essential responsibilitiesÂ
Responsible for accounting forPerformance Fees, Management Fees,InvestmentIncomeand other fee streams:Â
Accounting for carried interest allocations to the general partner, and associated employee incentive compensation programs (including taxes) under relevant accounting guidelines across multiple segments.Â
Performing accounting research, reaching accounting conclusions on classification of performance fee revenue under ASC 323 and ASC 606.Â
Accounting, reconciling, and analyzing management fee revenue earned on a quarterly basis.Â
Accounting forAres investments portfolioacross different asset classes including LP interests, debt, equity, and derivatives, including quarterly valuations.Â
Responsibilities over agency fee allocations between managementcompany and fundsutilizing relevant investment reporting systems.Â
Reconciling allfeeand investmentrelatedbalances ona timely basis for month and quarter end closes.Â
Detailed analysis offeeand investmentincome and presentation of significant drivers and changes through clear and concise management reporting.Â
Keypartner for relevant stakeholders including Ares leadership, fund accounting colleagues, taxcolleagues and investor relations.Â
Ensuringcontrol environment ismonitored and adhered to in compliance with SOX 404 program.Â
 Coordinating withSEC team and reviewing relevant quarterly documents and disclosures within the Ares Management 10-Q/K, Earnings Presentation, etc.Â
Ownership for analyzing, solutioning and operationalizing best in class accounting practices, including:Â
Assessing and documenting current state and working with other parties and peers to benchmark against best practices.Â
Seeking end-to-end accounting and reporting with minimal manual intervention.Â
DirectingIT team to operationalize changes and efficienciesidentified.Â
Contributing to various special projects including capital transactions, acquisitions, and process improvements to improve overall groupefficiencies.Â
Helping to automate other accounting and financial reporting requirements.Â
Support internal reporting requirements and other ad-hoc requestsof various internal users including other finance and accounting teams, investorrelations and the front office.Â
Other duties as assigned by management. Clear growth path through other revenue stream ownership as mastery of assigned work is displayed.Â
QualificationsÂ
Education:Â
ABachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field isrequired. An advanced degree is considered a plus.Â
CPArequired.Â
Experience:Â
4+ years of progressive professional experience in accounting.Â
Public accounting experience preferred.Â
Financial services experience is preferred.Exposure to investment management, fund accounting, and SEC reporting is strongly preferred.Â

Compensation
The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.
$120,000 - $140,000
