We are currently seeking an Senior Automation Engineer to join our Site Operation Maintenance team. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Operation Manager and is based at our site.

The experienced and self-sufficient Senior Automation Engineer will act as the technical expert (SME) for the site’s electrical,automation systems,OT and equipment in manufacturing and packaging, ensuring they are safe, compliant, reliable, and fit for purpose. The role supports the delivery of outstanding safety, quality, service, and value by enabling robust automation performance across operations.

As a key engineering technical authority, the role also provides technical leadership for automation elements of capital projects, leads automation implantation and improvement initiatives, and executing validation/Computer System Validation (CSV) activities across the site

A Day in the Life

With your valuable experience and expertise, you will:

·         Own as the site SME and technical authority for electrical,PLC/SCADA and automation equipment and OT systems, ensuring compliance with internal standards and external requirements.

·         Lead automation & OT upgrade and capital improvement project(new lines, retrofits, control system upgrade) from scope through commissioning and contribute long term automation roadmap planning for plant

·         Lead activities related to Technical Authority requirements, including defining requirements for managing and controlling the specific risks for which you are accountable.

·         Serve as the technical liaison engineer for automation scope within capital projects, including design input, vendor/contractor coordination, commissioning support, and handover.

·         Drive process improvement projects to enhance existing automation systems – improving performance, reliability, data visibility, and operational efficiency.

·         Day to day support equipment breakdown troubleshooting automation related by partnering with the Maintenance Operation, Facilities, and Project teams, and implementing corrective and preventive improvements.

·         Own and maintain robust engineering records for automation equipment (new line installation,control system upgrade, removal, retrofit, maintenance interventions), ensuring traceability and audit readiness.

·         Generate and maintain high-quality documentation, including writing, revising, and approving technical SOPs, reports, knowledge guides, and compliance libraries.

·         Provide technical support during regulatory and internal audits related to automation systems and computerized environments.

·         Ensure critical automation spare parts are available or easily accessible to minimize downtime and sustain operational continuity.

·         Manage Operational technology (OT) hardware and software that monitors, controls, and automates physical processes in a controlled way to reduce cybersecurity risk to the OT environment.

·         Collaborate with engineering and site leadership to develop and implement a site automation strategy, identifying investment opportunities and supporting technology prototyping.

·         Support and enhance automation systems such as automated OEE, automated end of line for packaging, and other site digital/automation platforms

Knowledge and Expertise That Matter Most for This Role:

·         Strong hands-on experience supporting industrial automation within a manufacturing environment (cleanroom), including troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and lifecycle management.

·         Good understanding of engineering compliance, documentation expectations, and working to defined internal/external standards (Engineering, Quality, EHS).

·         Working knowledge of Computer System Validation (CSV) and validation deliverables for automation-related projects and changes.

·         Awareness of OT cybersecurity fundamentals, including control of portable programming devices and good practices for protecting OT environments.

·         Strong communication skills with the ability to influence, align stakeholders, and act as a trusted technical partner across Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Reliability

·         Good understanding on the key automation platform e.g., PLC/SCADA/DCS vendors, EBR tool, EMS.

·         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
