The job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experiencedSenior Consulting Manager – AVEVA Operations Controlto lead the design, architecture, and delivery of enterprise-scale Industrial Automation and Digital Transformation solutions using the AVEVA Operations Control portfolio. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in AVEVA Operations Control, AVEVA System Platform, Historian, Operations Management Interface (OMI), Reports, and enterprise industrial system architectures, along with a strong understanding of OT-IT convergence, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, and enterprise integration.

The role is responsible for defining scalable, secure, resilient, and high-availability solution architectures while providing technical leadership throughout the entire project lifecycle—from solution consulting and architecture through engineering, deployment, testing, commissioning, and production support. The successful candidate will establish technical standards, drive architecture governance, and ensure solutions align with customer business objectives, industry best practices, and organizational quality standards.

In addition to technical leadership, this role includes people management responsibilities, providing mentorship, coaching, and career development for a team of solution architects, technical leads, and engineers. As a trusted technical advisor, the Solution Architect will collaborate closely with customers, business stakeholders, project managers, delivery teams, and cross-functional engineering groups to deliver innovative, reliable, and scalable industrial digital transformation solutions across industries including Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Manufacturing, Mining, Power, Utilities, Water, and Infrastructure. The successful candidate will foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration while ensuring successful project delivery and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Design & Architecture

• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise-scale Industrial Automation and Digital Transformation solutions using the AVEVA Operations Control portfolio.
• Define scalable, secure, resilient, and high-availability solution architectures that align with customer business objectives, enterprise IT standards, and OT operational requirements.

• Prepare, review, and maintain Solution Design Documents (SDD), Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Detailed Design specifications (DDS), Solution architecture, System Architecture, Factory Acceptance Test Procedure, Site Acceptance Test Procedures and deployment documentation.

• Design and govern deployment architectures for the complete AVEVA Operations Control ecosystem, including:
  • AVEVA System Platform
  • AVEVA Operations Management Interface (OMI)
  • AVEVA Historian
  • AVEVA Identity Manager
  • Galaxy Repository
  • Application Object Servers
  • Alarm Servers
  • Communication Drivers
  • License Manager
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • IIS Web Servers
• Architect High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), redundancy, backup, and failover strategies to ensure maximum system availability and business continuity.
• Lead infrastructure sizing, capacity planning, scalability assessments, and performance optimization for enterprise and mission-critical deployments across on-premises, virtualized, and cloud environments.
• Define enterprise system architecture, network topology, server infrastructure, cybersecurity controls, communication protocols, and integration patterns, customer standards, and AVEVA best practices.
• Design secure authentication and authorization solutions leveraging Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, HTTPS/TLS, and role-based access control (RBAC).
• Review and approve technical designs, engineering deliverables, and deployment strategies to ensure architectural consistency, maintainability, and operational excellence.
• Establish architecture standards, reusable design patterns, implementation guidelines, and technical governance processes across projects.
• Evaluate new AVEVA product capabilities and emerging technologies to continuously improve solution architecture, standardization, and delivery efficiency.
• Identify technical risks, perform architecture reviews, and define mitigation strategies to ensure successful project execution.
• Ensure all solution designs comply with AVEVA recommended practices, cybersecurity requirements, organizational governance, regulatory standards, and project-specific performance, availability, and reliability objectives.

Essential requirements

Non-Technical:

• Excellent written, verbal, technical, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with customers, executive stakeholders, project teams, and multidisciplinary engineering organizations.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, coaching, and people management skills with experience in developing high-performing technical teams.
• Proven ability to lead customer workshops, architecture reviews, technical governance meetings, and executive presentations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and complex technical challenges.
• Experience in effort estimation, resource planning, risk management, and technical governance across multiple concurrent projects.
• Willingness and flexibility to travel for customer engagements, architecture workshops, solution reviews, commissioning support, and project delivery activities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, and Microsoft Project.

Technical

• 18+ years of experience in Industrial Automation, SCADA, MES, or Digital Manufacturing, with at least 10 years in Solution Architecture or Technical Leadership roles.

• Extensive expertise in the AVEVA Operations Control portfolio, including:
  • AVEVA System Platform
  • AVEVA Operations Management Interface (OMI)
  • AVEVA Historian
  • AVEVA Identity Manager
  • AVEVA Communication Drivers
  • AVEVA License Manager

• Proven experience architecting and delivering enterprise-scale AVEVA Operations Control solutions for mission-critical industrial environments.
• Strong expertise in designing scalable, secure, resilient, and highly available industrial architectures for on-premises, virtualized, cloud, and hybrid environments.
• Extensive experience in enterprise architecture, infrastructure sizing, capacity planning, redundancy, disaster recovery (DR), failover strategies, and system performance optimization.
•  Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, IIS, Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and enterprise authentication and authorization mechanisms.
• Experience designing secure architectures utilizing HTTPS/TLS, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), and cybersecurity best practices
• Strong understanding of OT/IT convergence and enterprise integration with systems such as SAP, IBM Maximo, Microsoft applications, RESTful APIs, OPC DA/UA, MQTT, and other industrial communication protocols.
• Experience designing enterprise data architectures involving AVEVA Historian, SQL Server, reporting platforms, and analytics solutions.
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure, including Virtual Machines, networking, storage, identity management, and hybrid deployment architectures.
• Experience establishing architecture standards, engineering guidelines, reusable frameworks, and governance processes across multiple projects.
• Proven ability to perform technical reviews, solution validation, architecture governance, and design assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
•  Strong knowledge of Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, production deployment, operational readiness, and support transition.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams through the complete project lifecycle, from solution consulting and architecture to implementation, commissioning, and production support.
• Experience with AVEVA CONNECT, Industrial IoT, Digital Transformation initiatives, and cloud-based industrial solutions is desirable.
• Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns, microservices architecture, containerization, and DevOps practices is considered an advantage.
• Experience mentoring Solution Architects, Technical Leads, and Engineers while fostering technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement within engineering organizations.

Hybrid working
