Personal Trainer/Group Fitness Instructor

About the Opportunity

This job is in-person on the Oakland campus only.  

Under the direction of the Group Fitness Coordinator, the Group Fitness Instructor/Personal Traineris responsible for the following:  

Responsibilities:  

• Teach group fitness classes – promote andassist with registration, report for scheduled classes on time and ready to teach a goal-specific and thorough class with preparation and professionalism. 

• Conduct Personal Training sessions – promote andassist with registration, report for scheduled sessions on time andprepared to work with clients through a goal-specific and thorough workout with professionalism. 

• Ensure safety throughout the facility andsession; document any injury, illness, or suspected health issue and inform supervisor. 

• Maintain a respectful and safe environment for all participants.  

• Administrative responsibilities – manage class cancellations and communicate with supervisor and participants,communicate with clientsregarding scheduling,regularly checkemail and respond promptly. 

• Attend requiredtrainings and keep certificationsup-to-date. Complete surveys and questionnaires asrequested.  

• Maintain studio/fitness center space – remove any trash and return and organize any equipment used for sessions. Notify supervisor if any equipment is missing or damaged. 

• Monitor the performance of microphones, sound systems, and other technology and report any problems with equipment or software to supervisorimmediately. 

Qualifications:  

Obtain andmaintain current nationally accredited group fitness and/orpersonal trainer certification(s).  

Current certification in either American Red Cross or American Heart Association First Aid/CPR/AED isrequired prior to teaching. Opportunities for certification will be provided occasionally at no cost; however, if you are not able to attend, you must obtain certification on your own. 

The expected hiring range for this position is $35 to $55 per hour, based on the position’s scope and responsibilities.
