Optical Manufacturing Engineer (Second Shift)

The Opportunity:
Responsible for designing, modeling, analyzing and testing optical, electro-optical, and opto-mechanical systems and components, including sensors, lasers, fiber-optics, and telecommunications products. Conducts research and development into phases of physical optics and geometric optics, lasers, laser characteristics, laser maintenance, and broadband optical sources. Applies research of complex optical systems to achieve desired optical outcomes. Develops component specifications, tolerances, simulations and tests procedures for electro-optical systems and components. Use methods to assure and verify optical design requirements are met. Performs necessary adjustments and calibrations to ensure precision standards are met. Tests optical systems and monitors for improvement. Communicates cross-functionally to develop and design project plans.



Responsibilities:
· You will join our team working closely with seasoned Engineers and Mentors that will provide guidance for the implementation of leading edge technologies

· Under this guidance, provide vision, leadership, and direction in the development of CACI strategic initiatives to address the emerging need for Photonics Solutions

· Foster an entrepreneurial culture by leading and developing a team grounded in strong work ethic, dedication, and passion for intellectual curiosity

· Lead and support equipment and facilities expansion

· Implement process capability monitoring and improvement, to include the use of statistical process control

· Provide direction in problem solving, product or process characterization, process efficiency improvements and continuous improvement activities

· Drive optimization of products for improved manufacturability, cycle time and cost reductions

· Work with design team to ensure Design for Manufacturing (DFM) is incorporated into future products such that they successfully pass a manufacturing readiness review prior to low-rate initial production

· Work with engineering to negotiate product specifications and print acceptance criteria

· Travel to other CACI Locations or customer sites, as necessary (< 10% Travel)

· Perform other duties, as required

· Solve production issues with optics and mechanical assemblies.

· Strong Optical and mechanical background.


Qualifications:

Required: 
· Proven experience working with a team of highly skilled manufacturing and test engineers

· Ability to work with all team members though the process of solving manufacturing and test engineering issues

· Proven ability to influence design for manufacturing changes

· Understanding of high volume electro-optical manufacturing and test concepts

· Highly self-motived with the ability to drive projects to completion

· Strong oral and written presentation skills

· Ability to lead, as well as work independently in a team environment

· Well versed in utilizing all Microsoft software applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)

· Four-year engineering degree (BS) from an accredited college

· Ability to work in office full time


Desired:
· In depth knowledge of complex photonics manufacturing

· Knowledge of production test set and software development techniques

· Familiar with Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA), risk management and change management processes

· Hands on experience with Photonics manufacturing/test equipment and tooling design
