ETL Data Engineer - Assistant Vice President

The ETL Data Engineer is responsible for participation in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and control all phases of development process andanalysis, design, construction, testing, and implementationas well as provide user and operational support on applications to business users

• Utilize in-depth specialty knowledge of applications development to analyze complex problems/issues, provide evaluation of business process, system process, and industry standards, and make evaluative judgement

• Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.

• Advocates forcontinuous improvement, particularly in code quality, testability, reliability, and operational excellence

• Enthusiastic aboutrapid technological change and comfortable adopting new tools, platforms, and methodologies

• Capable of working across abroad technology spectrum, from legacy systems to modern big‑data and distributed platforms

• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of relevant experience

• Hands-on experience with Ab Initio or any other ETL tools (required) on Unix/Linux and Windows platforms

• Strong knowledge ofData Warehouse and ETL architecture, design principles, and development methodologies

• Broad cross‑functional IT experience, includingapplication integration and interface design

• Experience managing and resolving complex issues acrossETL processes, SQL workloads, and Unix scripts

• Hands‑on database application development usingOracle and/or MySQL

• Working knowledge ofmessaging and streaming technologies such as JMS, MQ, or Kafka is preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficient inOracle databases (preferred) and strong working knowledge of Linux environments

• Advanced expertise inUnix shell scripting, SQL and PL/SQL development, and troubleshooting ETL pipelines

• Proven experience inperformance tuning, benchmarking, throughput analysis, and capacity planning

• Experience designing and buildingshared frameworks and utility services, including logging, monitoring, and error‑handling

• Familiarity withAgile development methodologies (Scrum/Kanban preferred)

• Experience withchange and release management processes

• Exposure to the Financial Services domain is strongly preferred

• Experience developing applications using Spark, Scala, Java or Python is a plus

• Working knowledge ofmessaging and streaming technologies such as JMS, MQ, or Kafka is preferred

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
