Lab Internship
nVent’s Lab Co-Op will provide the opportunity to support R & D Lab technician team and work with Lab Test Engineers in the administration of product performance tests, agency approval tests, development tests, and assembly of prototype products while gaining exposure and valuable development experiences within a global manufacturing organization. This is a6 month,full time internship taking place from Jan – August 2027.
Depending on the degree and/or desired career path, co-ops will be placed into some combination of the following rotations:
Mechanical Engineering Track
Develop technical knowledge of nVent product construction and assembly
Perform product performance testing
Update standard work documentation as needed
Develop an understanding of agency performance testing such as UL, CSA, NEMA and IEC
Work with the internal partners tomodify and expand test plans and procedures
Generate written reports of test results inan accurate, concise manner, drawing sound conclusions and observations
Set up andoperate lab equipment
Design and build equipment and fixtures to conduct testing
Support andparticipate new product development Lean activities (i.e. DFMEA-Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Design Reviews, 3P Conceptual Design event)
Assist engineers with design and development of test machinery and equipment asrequired
Provide testing and engineering support for Engineered Solution and Value Engineering projects
Assist with lab improvement projects, lab processes, and test management systems to increase capacity and reduce overall risk.
Electrical/Control Tracks
Develop technical knowledge of nVent product construction and assembly
Conduct tests usingvarious types of lab equipmentthat integratewithhardware, dataacquisition and software.
Update standard work documentation as needed
Develop an understanding of agency performance testing such as UL, CSA, NEMA and IEC
Developelectrical and electromechanicalconnection circuitdiagramsforinstruments, electronic operating room equipment, or systems for automated data acquisition, analysis, and visualization
Develop andmaintain data acquisition and logging systems, ensuringaccurate tracking of test results and equipment performance.
Background in instrumentation andtroubleshootingelectro-mechanical systems
Implement and debug control systems for new test equipment, including PLC logic, HMI interfaces, and industrial communication networks
Support team members in design, conducting experiments, data acquisition and analysis, troubleshooting, assembly and fabrication of prototypes and equipment.
Assist in developing laboratory testing, interpreting data results, and recommendingthe nextsteps.
Assist engineers with design and development ofcontrol programs and equipment asrequired
Assist with lab improvement projects,automateddatalogging processes, andtest management systems to increase capacity and reduce overall risk.
Internship Details
Interns are paid $25 an hour for time worked
Internsare responsible for transportation to and from work
Interns whodemonstrate outstanding performance may be offered asubsequent internship or full-time offer of employment with nVent
The Lab Internship is based out of our facility in Anoka, MN.

YOU HAVE:
Required Qualifications:
Currently pursuing abachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or electrical engineering preferred
Current Sophomore or Junior, Graduating with an undergraduate degree between December 2027 and May 2029
Ability to complete a6 month Full-Time internship from Jan – August 2027 in Anoka, MN
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Excellent attention to detail and organization skills
Willingness to learn and to work collaboratively with all levels within the organization
Energy to listen, desire to learn and ability to be resilient and adaptable through change
Strong work ethic and personal responsibility to see things through to completion
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Demonstrated leadership experience
