Job Description

AssistantDirectorofCare
Mission:
ReportingtotheDirectorofCare,theAssistantDirectorofcare(ADOC)isa highlyskilled
leaderwho contributestoExtendicare’s purposeofHelpingPeopleLiveBetterbysupporting
and leading a high-performing team dedicated to delivering safe, high-quality, and
compassionate care to all residents.
UnderthedirectionoftheDirectorofCare,theADOCleadsandprovidesoversightfor
assigned clinical areas as per Extendicare’s model of care and collaborates with other
membersofthecareteamtoensureexceptional resident centeredcareandbest practices
are consistent with Extendicare, Accreditation standards, andallregulations.
The ADOC will engage with residents and families and promote a customer service
philosophytocontinuouslyimproveresidentsatisfactionandachieveourmissiontoprovide
people with the care they need, wherever they call home.
KeyOutcomes:
•Serveasastrongadvocateforresidentsafetyandongoingimprovementofqualitycare.
•AttainhighresidentandfamilyengagementasmeasuredthroughExperienceSurvey
results, by caring for each person as we would our own family.
•Consistentlymeetorexceedallqualityandclinicalindicatorsforresidents,inalignment
with organizational and legislative guidelines, through the effective execution of required
clinical programs.
•Fosterapositivecultureofemployeeexperience,drivinganincreaseinoverallemployee
engagement compared to the previous year.
•Ensure adherence toallregulatory requirementsonquality and clinical programs,aswell
asorganizationalandAccreditationstandards,policies,andprocedures.
KeyResponsibilities:
IncollaborationwiththeDirectorofCare:
•Manage-ManageassignedprogramareasasperExtendicare’sModelofCare,ensuring
effectiveimplementation andperformanceoftheprogramsincompliancewithlegislative andprofessional standards.
•Identify-Risk andmitigationstrategiesandescalateandmanageas appropriatein
collaboration with organizational teams and departments.
•Comply-Monitor and ensure compliance with all regulations, licensingrequirements,
accreditationstandardsandlabourandemployment standards, including timely
investigations and consistent action planning.
•Collaborate-Actively participateand collaborate with the Director of Care,
interdisciplinaryteam,andconsultwithcarestaff,residentsandfamiliestodeliverand
optimize resident care.
•Quality-Leadinthedevelopment,implementation,andoversightofqualityimprovement
initiatives within the home to achieve successful outcomes and meet establishedgoals.
•CommunityPartnership-Engage with vendors on quality initiatives andtraining
requirementsandcollaboratewith communityhealth partnersforthebettermentof
resident care.
•Cultivate-Foster professional growth and engagement of team members through
mentorship, training, and development initiatives to enhance team performance in
partnershipwithDOCtobuildastrongorganizationalculture.Thisincludes identifying
skill gaps, providing coaching and feedback and encouraging continuous learning.

•Customer Service-Through employing the customer service mindset, accept and respond tofeedback (complaints, recognition or suggestions) fromresidents,families, vendors and teammembers with acknowledgement and empathy.
Qualifications:
•Minimum of three (3) years of experience working as Registered staff in thelong-term
care sector,plus,preferenceofthree(3)years, minimum of one (1)ofexperiencein a
managerialorsupervisory capacity in a health care setting.
•Currentandunrestrictedregistration/licensing and practiceasaRegisteredNursewiththe
applicableProvincial licensing body.
•BachelorofNursingpreferredorPost-secondaryDiploma inNursing.
•CurrentCPRcertificationisrequired.
•Demonstratedleadership,communicationskillsandinterpersonalskills.
•ExperienceintheuseofEHRsystems,specificallyPointClickCareandPointofCare.
•ProficiencyinMicrosoftOfficeSuite.
•Provenhistoryofleadingqualityimprovementinitiativesandachievingpositive resident
outcomes.
•Demonstratedteambuildingandtimemanagementskills.
•StrongClinicalskills.
•Proficiencyinasecondlanguageisconsideredanasset.
•Experience workinginaunionizedenvironment andmanagingundera collective

$100,000.00 - $120,000.00
