Travel Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Advanced Heart Failure Unit

Sentara Heart Hospital - Norfolk, VA

• $70.00/hr pay rate
• Temporary Full Time
• 14-week assignment
• DAY Shift
• No benefits

Seeking Travel RNs with the following:

• Demonstrated experience in cardiac care, including working with patients in telemetry, step-down, or critical care settings.
• Proficient in interpreting cardiac rhythms, including identification of arrhythmias and understanding their clinical significance.
• Solid foundational knowledge of appropriate nursing interventions for various cardiac conditions, including emergency response protocols and medication administration.

Education

• Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or diploma in the Nursing Field required

Certification/Licensure

• Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing

• Basic Life Support (BLS)

• ACLS

• NIH Stroke Scale

Experience

• Must have 2 or more years of recent acute care Cardiac hospital RN experience

Advanced Heart Failure Unit (AHFU) Overview:

The AHFU is a24-bed high-acuity cardiac care unit specializing in the treatment of patients with:

• Severe heart failure

• Pre- and post-heart transplant care

• Pulmonary hypertension

WhileVentricular Assist Device (VAD) andtransplant experience are not required, opportunities exist for nurses who are eager toexpand their cardiac skill set in these areas.

Clinical Environment & Equipment

• Nurses work withadvanced bedside monitoring systems and other high-tech equipment.

• For candidates withprevious ICU experience, there are opportunities totitrate intravenous medications based onhemodynamic monitoring.

Team Culture & Communication

• The unit thrives on24/7 consistent communication andintricate interdisciplinary teamwork.

• A strong culture ofcollaboration and mutual support is essential for success on the AHFU.

Staffing & Patient Load

• Nurses typically care for3–4 patients, depending onacuity levels.
