The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Bank Painter & Decorator / General Maintenance Assistant to join our friendly and dedicated Facilities team at New Hall Hospital.
This is a varied, hands-on role where you will support the ongoing maintenance, appearance and upkeep of the hospital. You will primarily undertake painting and decorating duties, alongside general maintenance tasks, helping us to maintain a safe, welcoming and high-quality environment for our patients, visitors and colleagues.
As this is a Bank position, you will work flexibly to support the hospital when required, making this a great opportunity for someone looking for additional work or a role that can fit around other commitments.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your duties will include:
Carrying out internal and external painting and decorating across the hospital
Preparing surfaces, including filling, sanding and making good prior to decoration
Painting walls, ceilings, doors, woodwork and other surfaces to a high standard
Carrying out minor repairs and general maintenance tasks throughout the hospital
Supporting the wider Facilities and Maintenance team with planned and reactive maintenance
Identifying maintenance issues and reporting any faults or concerns appropriately
Ensuring work areas are kept clean, tidy and safe, particularly when working within patient and public areas
Using tools, equipment and materials safely and appropriately
Working in accordance with relevant health and safety procedures
Helping to ensure the hospital continues to provide a safe, well-maintained and welcoming environment

Ideally, you will have:
Previous experience in painting and decorating
Experience of carrying out general maintenance or handyman duties
Good practical skills and the ability to undertake a range of minor repairs
A good understanding of safe working practices
The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
Excellent attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work
A flexible and proactive approach
Good communication and interpersonal skills
A positive, friendly and professional attitude
The ability to work sensitively and professionally within a busy healthcare environment
A willingness to undertake additional training where required
Previous experience within a hospital, healthcare, commercial or facilities environment would be advantageous, but is not essential.
