DuPontâ„¢ Spectrumâ„¢ Healthcare Solutions is seeking aNew Product Development Engineer to join our Medical Films & Flexible Packaging team in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.
In this role, you will help shape the next generation of healthcare and medical device packaging solutions, leading the development of innovative films, flexible packaging structures, and manufacturing processes that enable critical medical technologies worldwide. You will work at the intersection of materials science, product development, manufacturing, and customer collaboration, taking products from concept through commercialization in a highly innovative, regulated environment.

What You'll Do
- Lead the development of new medical films, flexible packaging structures, and process technologies from concept through commercial launch.
- Translate customer and application requirements into innovative packaging solutions that deliver performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
- Design, develop, and evaluate new packaging materials, film structures, laminates, pouches, and related healthcare packaging formats.
- Plan and execute laboratory studies, pilot trials, process development activities, and scale-up initiatives to support commercialization.
- Partner with manufacturing, quality, regulatory, marketing, and commercial teams to successfully transfer new technologies into production.
- Support packaging validation and verification activities, including sterilization compatibility, package integrity, aging studies, and process qualification.
- Apply data-driven problem-solving tools, statistical analysis, and experimental design techniques to optimize product and process performance.
- Lead technical project activities, manage development timelines, identify risks, and drive successful execution of new product initiatives.
- Collaborate directly with customers to understand application challenges, provide technical expertise, and ensure successful implementation of DuPont packaging solutions.
- Contribute to the advancement of DuPont's innovation pipeline by exploring new materials, technologies, and sustainable packaging solutions.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline with 10+ years of experience; Advanced degree with 5+ years of experience is preferred
- Experience in product development, process development, manufacturing engineering, packaging engineering, R&D, or technical innovation roles.
- Experience supporting the development, scale-up, or commercialization of polymer-based products and manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems using data-driven decision making and structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Strong project management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive projects forward in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel up to 20%.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with flexible packaging, polymer films, extrusion, converting, lamination, coating, sealing, or related manufacturing technologies.
- Knowledge of medical devices, healthcare, pharmaceutical, food, or other regulated packaging applications.
- Experience supporting product validation, process qualification, or regulated product development environments.
- Familiarity with medical packaging standards, including ISO 11607, ISO 13485, FDA, or similar quality systems.
- Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE), statistical analysis, Minitab, process optimization, or validation methodologies.
- Experience leading cross-functional product development projects from concept through commercialization.
