JOB TITLE                         Junior Duty Manager

DEPARTMENT                   Management

REPORTS TO                     General Manager/ Operations Manager

RESPONSIBLE FOR           General Operations

 

Job Purpose

To facilitate the smooth and efficient operation of the hotel. To represent the hotel in a professional and courteous manner and to adhere to the operational standards required by the General Manager.

 

Main Duties & Responsibiities

  • To perform duty management shifts as required.
  • To ensure that all departments are operating smoothly throughout the Hotel during your rostered shift.
  • To check the function sheet on a daily basis and to ensure that all necessary preparations have been carried out for the day’s, week’s business.
  • To encourage, develop and promote the highest possible levels of guest awareness and guest service.
  • To deal with any guest complaints or problems in a professional and efficient manner.
  • To ensure that all staff are neatly dressed, well presented and wearing the standard hotel uniform.
  • To be fully conversant and comply with health, safety, hygiene, fire and security regulations and procedures of the Hotel and to ensure others are aware of their responsibilities in this regard.
  • To ensure hygiene levels are maintained at all times, which includes work practices, method of work, storage and the personal hygiene of staff.
  • To attend and contribute to the Head of Department meetings when scheduled.
  • To establish and develop a good working relationship with departmental managers and staff in order to meet the Hotel’s objectives.
  • To assist in maintaining standard operational procedures in each department and ensuring that standards are implemented and monitored.
  • To assist in training staff in particular food and beverage departments and to monitor their performance in conjunction with the Human Resource Manager.
  • To assist in the sales and marketing of the hotel in conjunction with the Sales and Marketing Department.
  • To implement policies and directions from senior management as may be decided from time to time.
  • To wear the appropriate uniform, and to adhere to dress and appearance standards.
  • To assist with any other reasonable duties as directed.
  • The Operations Manager will conduct a regular performance assessment with the Duty Manager.  This will include a review of all aspects of the operations, personal performance, motivation, achievements, attitude and general progress and results.
  • To at all times maintain and promote all HR policies and procedures.
  • To participate in all training programmes that you are scheduled for them and their team.
  • To inform the HR Manager of any issues relating to colleagues and be involved in disciplinary procedures where necessary.
  • To encourage, develop and manage effective team relations within the various hotel departments.

 

Health & Safety

  • To fulfil your obligations under the Health & Safety at Work Act 2005 and any revisions or additional legislation made thereto.
  • To ensure that reasonable care is taken for health and safety of yourself, other colleagues, guests and any other persons on the premises.
  • To keep work area tidy and safe and report any hazard, loss or damage to management.
  • To be aware of trained first-aid personnel on the premises and the location of first aid box.
  • To observe all safety rules and procedures, including those laid down in the Safety Statement.
  • To carry out and promote fire and accident/other safety drills as directed by the hotel safety officer.
  • To participate in all Health and Safety training scheduled for you.
  • To inform Senior Management immediately in the event that you are personally involved in any accident or incident on the resort grounds or if you are witness to an accident or incident involving a third party.

 

Miscellaneous

  • To ensure all reporting and servicing deadlines are met on a timely basis.
  • To attend meetings and training as required by the Deputy General Manager  
  • To ensure guest satisfaction by attending to their requests and enquiries courteously and efficiently.
