Job Summary
Cognizant is seeking a skilled and motivated Network Security Engineer with hands-on experience in Cisco Firewall technologies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, configuring, and troubleshooting enterprise firewall environments, ensuring secure and reliable network operations. This role requires strong networking fundamentals, security expertise, and the ability to support incident response and operational activities.Key Responsibilities
- Configure, administer, and support Cisco ASA and Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) firewalls.
- Implement and manage firewall security policies, Access Control Lists (ACLs), and NAT rules.
- Configure and troubleshoot site-to-site and remote access VPN solutions.
- Monitor firewall performance, security events, and system health.
- Investigate and resolve network security incidents and firewall-related issues.
- Perform firewall rule reviews, policy optimization, and security compliance activities.
- Collaborate with network, security, and application teams to support business requirements.
- Participate in change management, maintenance activities, and security audits.
- Maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Provide Level 2 support for network security operations and incident management.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in Network Security or Firewall Administration.
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco ASA and Cisco Firepower (FTD) firewalls.
- Experience in VPN technologies, including IPsec and SSL VPN.
- Good understanding of firewall policy management, ACLs, NAT, and security best practices.
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, Routing, Switching, VLANs, DNS, and DHCP.
- Experience in troubleshooting network connectivity and security-related issues.
- Knowledge of incident handling and operational support processes.
- Ability to analyze logs and diagnose firewall/network problems efficiently.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Cisco FMC (Firepower Management Center).
- Exposure to SIEM, network monitoring, or security management tools.
- Cisco certifications such as CCNA Security, CCNP Security, or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of cloud networking and security concepts.
- ITIL process knowledge is an added advantage.
