Position Summary 

The NDE Assistant assists NDE Technicians in performing specific calibrations, nondestructive tests, and evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations. The NDE Assistant receives both on-the-job and classroom training and development to advance their career toward becoming an NDE Technician. 

Responsibilities 

• Set up and use nondestructive testing equipment. 

• Assist NDE Technicians in the calibration of NDT equipment. 

• Assist NDE Technicians in conducting tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDE methods of inspection. 

• Record results of inspections. 

• Assist Technicians in performing NDT procedures and other operations. 

• Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by management. 

• Assist NDE Technicians in the calibration of NDT equipment

• Assist NDE Technicians conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDE methods of inspection

• Record results of inspections

• Assist Technicians in performing NDT procedures and other operations

• Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by management

Qualifications

Conditions of Employment 

• Complete and pass a DISA background check. 

• Complete and pass a urine/alcohol drug screen. 

• Complete and pass site-specific safety council training. 

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements 

• Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine motor skills (finger dexterity), feeling, talking, hearing, visual acuity, accommodation, and color vision. 

• Move, carry, and lift objects in excess of 50 pounds. 

• Climb and work from ladders, stairs, and scaffolding in excess of 100 feet. 

• Work extended hours and stand for extended periods of time. 

• Work in indoor and outdoor environments in conditions of extreme heat and cold. 

• Work in and near industrial hazards.
