ABA Insurance Services (ABAIS), a division of Great American Insurance Group, is a leading provider of specialized insurance solutions with more than 35 years of experience serving financial institutions, nonprofit organizations, and small businesses. The organization offers a broad portfolio of management and professional liability products, including Cyber Liability, Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI), Directors & Officers (D&O) Liability, Crime Coverage, Professional Liability, bond coverage, and property and casualty insurance solutions.
Position Overview
The Associate Underwriter II provides administrative and analytical and product support to the underwriting team by reviewing applications, establishing the underwriting file, and adhering to underwriting guidelines. This role is focused on application intake, documentation, and underwriting support, with the opportunity to further underwriting and product responsibilities over time.

To support this, employees in this role are expected to be on-site four days a week, with the flexibility to work one day remotely. Core in‑office days are Monday–Thursday, with the fifth day determined by business needs.
Responsibilities
- Review applications and submissions for completeness and accuracy.
- Enter and maintain policy, account, and risk information in underwriting systems.
- Coordinate with underwriters, agents, and brokers to gather required documentation.
- Analyze financial, loss, and account data to support risk evaluations.
- Prepare and maintain underwriting files and documentation.
- Monitor workflows and support timely processing of new and renewal business.
- Review reports, endorsements, and service requests and take appropriate action.
- Respond to routine inquiries from agents, brokers, and internal partners.
- Support policy issuance and endorsement processing.
- Audit transactions and data to ensure accuracy and data integrity.
- Assist with underwriting activities within delegated authority as experience develops.
- Assist with creating product and rate revisions, underwriting guidelines, manuals, and procedures.
- Collaborate with marketing, business development, and insurance operations teams to support successful product launches and ongoing product maintenance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business & finance functions preferred
- Generally, Bachelor’s degree, or generally 1 to 3 years of insurance, underwriting support, banking, financial services, or related experience preferred.
- Obtaining Property & Casualty License is required.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation management.
- Ability to analyze information and identify potential risks or issues.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and business systems.
- Motivated learners with the confidence to ask questions and grow into underwriting responsibilities.
