SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to:       Recreation Supervisor - Special Events, Birthday Parties, Music

Supervises:      N/A

BASIC FUNCTION

Responsible for the safety, progressive education, and implementation of a variety of music classes including piano, voice, guitar, violin.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES 

1. Supervise and lead private and group activity sessions.
2. Work with students/families to schedule lessons. Monitor registration to insure all participants and lessons are properly accounted for.
3. Provide exceptional customer service to students and families.
4. Evaluates participant’s progress and performance on a continual basis for the purpose of immediately helping the participant to improve their skills and confidence.
5. Communicate matters of importance with the Cultural Arts Supervisor.
6. Submit routine paperwork, such as Incident Reports, as they come due.
7. Enforce Lakeview Center facility rules.
8. Work cooperatively as a team member with other program staff members.
9. Evaluate instruments and equipment and inform supervisor of any needs for update or replacement.

OTHER DUTIES

1. Attend all in-service training sessions and staff meetings.
2. Direct patrons in the event of an emergency such as severe weather or fire.
3. Follow all safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Park District Safety and Crisis Manuals.
4. Perform additional duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education:      Completed High School

                       Formal music education. Demonstrates musical knowledge and ability.

Experience:    20 years of age or older, preferred

In depth experience in music

Previous experience teaching and working with kids ages 6 – 14

Certifications: CPR and First Aid Certified,Classes available through Park District upon hire
