The 2026-27 faculty grid for this position is $75,461 to $116,035 based on years of experience and a Bachelor of Education. Faculty with a Master's will be paid at a higher range.

The Opportunity

As our AI Fluency & Innovation Teacher, you’ll lead engaging, hands-on learning experiences for students in Grades 11–12, helping them progress from foundational AI fluency to authentic applications of emerging technologies.

Your classroom might look like a traditional lesson one day, a design studio the next, and a student innovation lab the day after that.

You’ll help students:

• Explore how AI can transform learning, research, creativity, and problem-solving
• Design AI-supported systems, workflows, and solutions
• Build and experiment with custom assistants and knowledge systems
• Investigate authentic challenges and develop solutions for real audiences
• Test ideas, gather feedback, iterate, and communicate their thinking
• Understand the limitations, risks, biases, and ethical dimensions of AI
• Develop the judgment to know when—and when not—to use AI
• Become thoughtful creators and innovators who keep human thinking at the centre

What You’ll Do

Lead an Innovative Programme

Design and deliver Mulgrave’s evolving AI Fluency & Innovation Programme, helping students develop increasingly sophisticated AI competencies throughout Grades 8–12, with a particular focus on advanced experiences in Grades 11 and 12.

Make Learning Hands-On

Move beyond demonstrations and theory. Create learning experiences where students build, experiment, research, design, test, fail, iterate, and create.

Coach Student Innovation

Guide students through authentic design challenges, systems redesign initiatives, year-long innovation projects, and showcase experiences.

You’ll be a teacher, coach, facilitator, and thought partner—helping students turn ambitious ideas into meaningful work.

Teach AI Thinking, Not Just AI Tools

Help students understand that effective AI use requires more than knowing which button to press.

You’ll develop students’ abilities to:

• Critically evaluate AI-generated information
• Identify hallucinations and verify claims
• Assess sources and recognize bias
• Understand human-in-the-loop decision-making
• Use AI to deepen thinking rather than replace it
• Consider privacy, accountability, ethics, and responsible technology use

Explore What’s Emerging

AI is changing quickly, and so will this programme.

You’ll explore emerging capabilities, multimodal systems, assistants, workflows, knowledge tools, and other technologies, evaluating how they might create meaningful educational opportunities while maintaining appropriate safeguards.

Collaborate Across the School

Work closely with the Digital Learning & AI Specialist, teachers, programme leaders, and school-wide AI initiatives to connect AI fluency with authentic learning across the curriculum.

You’ll contribute to the continued development of AI as a signature element of the Mulgrave educational experience.

You’re an educator who:

• Gets genuinely excited when a new technology makes you ask, “What could students do with this?”
• Enjoys learning alongside students rather than pretending to have all the answers
• Can turn emerging technology into compelling learning experiences
• Loves project-based, inquiry-driven, and experiential learning
• Is equally comfortable facilitating a discussion, teaching a practical skill, and coaching a complex project
• Can navigate ambiguity and help students explore questions without easy answers
• Understands that responsible innovation requires both curiosity and judgment
• Believes AI should amplify human creativity, thinking, and agency—not replace them
• Builds strong relationships and creates classrooms where students feel safe to experiment, question, and take intellectual risks

What You Bring

Required

• Canadian residency and legal entitlement to work in Canada
• Bachelor of Education or equivalent teaching qualification
• Current BC teacher certification, or eligibility to obtain certification
• Demonstrated success teaching and engaging middle and/or secondary students
• Strong practical understanding of generative AI tools and workflows
• Experience using AI to support learning, research, creativity, productivity, or problem-solving
• Experience designing inquiry-based, project-based, and experiential learning
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills
• A strong commitment to ethical technology use, digital citizenship, academic integrity, and student wellbeing
• Comfort working in a rapidly evolving technological and educational landscape
• Enthusiasm for experimentation, innovation, and continuous learning

We’d Be Excited If You Also Have…

Experience with:

• The IB MYP and/or DP
• Technology, design, innovation, entrepreneurship, computer science, STEM, digital literacy, or media studies
• Interdisciplinary projects connected to real-world challenges
• Capstones, hackathons, robotics, innovation competitions, or entrepreneurial initiatives
• AI platforms such as Gemini, NotebookLM, AI Studio, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar tools
• Systems thinking, design thinking, human-centred design, workflow design, or knowledge management
• Student exhibitions, showcases, presentations, and portfolio assessment
• Professional learning, coaching, or technology integration with colleagues
• Privacy, data protection, and responsible AI in educational settings
