JOB DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE:                        MIXER OPERATOR

 

REPORTS TO:           Manager of Services

 

DATE:                        October 2, 2026 – Revision

 

 

  I.  Positions reporting directly to this position: NONE

 

 II. POSITION OBJECTIVE:  - brief statement of why position exists.

 

       Operates all equipment related to the mixing of raw materials.

 

III. QUALIFICATIONS:  - Describe education and experience needed to perform the above.  Personnel will confirm.

 

       Minimum High School or equivalent work experience.

 

IV. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  - Refer to 5 forms for complete descriptions of duties, physical and visual requirements.

 

       A.  Tasks and Duties:

 

       1.  Works under the direction of the shift foreman.

 2.  Sets up and operates all equipment related to the mixing of raw materials.

 3.  Operates hand and power trucks when necessary.

 4.  Accurately weighs ingredients of each to insure consistent composition of all batches.

5.    Maintains proper temperature of mixing times, etc. to produce quality mixtures of raw materials.

6.     Records all required data on inventory, usage, mixing conditions, etc.

7.    Performs the following operations in receiving raw PVC resin:

       a. Opens hatches and attaches ventilation filters for each bin.

       b. Connects receiving hose and flows valve filters for each.

       c. Activates pumps and adjusts the flow of material (vacuum).

       d. Diverts resin to another silo when necessary.                                                              

8.    Measures PVC raw resin bins and blends silos and reports to Foreman.

9.    Reports unsatisfactory operating condition in equipment to Supervisor.

10.  Keeps equipment and working area clean and orderly.

11.  Uses safe working practices and reports hazardous conditions at all times.

12.  Trains inexperienced employees on the job as required.

13.  Directs the activities of another when assigned.

14.  Substitutes for absentee workers and performs other miscellaneous jobs as directed, within these physical and mental requirements.

Qualifications

 

B.  Physical / Visual Activities Required / Work Environmental Conditions:

 

 1.  Have adequate sight, hearing and use of limbs to safely operate powered vehicles i.e., forklifts and sweepers.

 2.  Sight capabilities to distinguish proper products identification as well as warning and operational indicators.  Also to distinguish accuracy and neatness of required job assignments.

3.  Hearing capabilities to distinguish differences in warning alarm indicators and standard operation indicators.

 4.  Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling capabilities to handle job requirements such as operating, cleaning or packaging equipment and products.

 5.  Balancing to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching.

6.  Ability to verbally communicate with other fellow employees to accomplish all assigned job requirements.

 7.  Hear and understand verbal communication whether it be face to face or via telephone.

 8.  See and understand written communication.

 9. Ability to confirm by sight quality level of raw materials to determine proper use of each.

10. Climb and descend all ladders or steps whether fixed or portable on company facilities in    order to access all areas if needed.

11.  Lift up to 70 pounds and carry up to 30 feet.

12.  Must be able to operate a forklift truck.

13.  Push and or pull up to 2500 pounds up to 30 feet with the aid of material handling equipment.

    14.  Walking through, under and around equipment with a clearance of 30”.

15.  Ability to feel objects, textures, size and shape and to determine temperature by touching of skin, primarily by that of finger tips.

16.  Ability to grasp tools (manual as well as powered) and use them in accordance with a safe working manner so as not to injure yourself or fellow employees i.e., power saws, drills, hammers, presses, latches, etc.

17. Sight capability to safely operate at arms length machinery power and/or hand tools needed to accomplish the requirements of the job assignments for this position.

 

 

 

C. Work Environment Conditions:

 

1.    Inside and outside environments apply.

2.    Subject to extreme cold, temperatures below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour.

3.    Subject to extreme heat, temperatures can exceed 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour.

4.    Subject to noise, causing reason to shout in order to be heard above the noise level.

5.    Subject to dust due to mixing process of raw materials.

6.    Subject to hazards such as moving machinery, electrical currents, or falling debris.

7.    Subject to slips and trips due to mixer building floor surface being susceptible to inside/outside temperatures changes and inclement weather conditions.

 

 V.  AUTHORITHY / DECISION MAKING:  - State closeness of supervision, control by policy procedure, and direction of others.

 

        Very limited.  Follow direction from Supervisor and/or General Foreman.  Works within
