Clayton Services is searching for a Millwright to join a thriving industrial organization in the Houston area. The Millwright will be responsible for installing, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining rotating and mechanical equipment throughout the facility, including pumps, compressors, gearboxes, agitators, blowers, and related equipment.
Job Type: Temp-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $27.40 - $42.50/hour
Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts. Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM

Millwright Responsibilities:
- Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain rotating equipment throughout the facility.
- Work on centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, compressors, agitators, gearboxes, blowers, fans, and related mechanical equipment.
- Perform precision alignment of rotating machinery and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical equipment failures and determine appropriate repairs.
- Perform maintenance in accordance with OEM specifications and applicable industry standards.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and equipment documentation.
- Work with bearings, seals, shafts, packing, drive systems, cylinders, piping configurations, and related mechanical components.
- Select and properly apply lubricants based on equipment and operating requirements.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment to complete maintenance and repair work.
- Prepare and inspect work areas before beginning maintenance activities.
- Assist with fixed equipment installation and other multi-craft maintenance activities as needed.
- Work with maintenance and reliability personnel to identify recurring equipment issues and improve equipment reliability.
- Assist with developing and improving maintenance procedures for rotating equipment.
- Follow LOTO, process safety, and established facility safety procedures.
- Provide basic millwright hand tools required to perform the work.
Millwright Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of rotating equipment maintenance and repair.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with precision alignment techniques.
- Knowledge of pumps, compressors, agitators, gearboxes, bearings, seals, and drive systems.
- Understanding of mechanical principles, craft math, metals, and lubrication.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, schematics, and equipment specifications.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with maintenance and reliability teams.
- Familiarity with machine shop equipment such as drill presses, lathes, and milling machines is preferred.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
Millwright Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience maintaining rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, agitators, and gearboxes required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with precision alignment and mechanical troubleshooting required.
- Experience working with lockout/tagout and process safety requirements.
- Petrochemical, chemical, terminal, refinery, or similar industrial maintenance experience preferred.
- Previous experience with machine shop equipment and associated tooling is a plus.
