Miller / Compounder โ Mixing & Blending Operator
Location: Taunton, MA 02780
Pay Rate: $26.02/hour ($24.27 base + $1.75 shift differential)
Shift: 2nd Shift โ 3:00 PMโ11:30 PM
Hours: 40 hours per week
Work Arrangement: Onsite Employment
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Miller / Compounder to support industrial manufacturing operations in Taunton, MA.
This position is responsible for operating and monitoring production equipment used in material mixing, compound blending, screening, and milling operations.
The operator will accurately weigh and measure raw materials, prepare production batches according to established formulas, operate mixing and milling machinery, and inspect finished materials to ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards.
The ideal candidate has previous manufacturing experience, strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to follow detailed production instructions.
Key Responsibilities
Mixing & Compound Blending

Prepare master batches of materials according to established work orders and production formulas.

Accurately weigh and measure raw materials and ingredients.

Load specified materials into mixing and blending equipment.
-
Operate mixing machinery according to required processing times and procedures.
-
Transfer completed batches into appropriate containers, including lined buckets or plastic bags.

Properly identify and label completed batches.

Perform thorough equipment cleanouts between production jobs.
-
Collect, label, and submit material samples to Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) for testing.
Screening Operations

Operate screening equipment to remove impurities from mixed materials.

Load prepared material blocks into screening machines.
-
Monitor materials as they move through the screening process.

Cut processed materials to required lengths.
-
Weigh finished pieces and make adjustments to meet specified weight requirements.

Wrap, label, and organize finished materials on designated racks.
Milling Operations
-
Operate industrial milling equipment using rolling cylinders to process and transform materials into sheets.
-
Weigh materials according to established mill room formulas.
-
Feed materials through rolling cylinders and incorporate additional ingredients as required.
-
Repeatedly guide, cut, and turn materials through the milling process.
-
Monitor material consistency and processing requirements.
-
Cut completed materials into thin sheets.
-
Organize finished sheets on racks for transfer to extrusion operations.
-
Prepare and submit material samples to QA/QC for testing.
Equipment Operation & Quality Control

Monitor production equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
-
Observe gauges, dials, and machine indicators.
-
Identify equipment operating problems and perform basic troubleshooting.

Perform routine equipment maintenance and recognize when additional maintenance is required.
-
Inspect materials, ingredients, and finished products for quality and consistency.
-
Follow work orders, customer specifications, and established production procedures.

Record production data and equipment information accurately.
-
Transfer materials and supplies between production areas using appropriate equipment and tools.

Follow all workplace safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Required Qualifications

Previous manufacturing experience is required.

Experience working with industrial manufacturing or production equipment.

Ability to follow detailed work orders, production formulas, and operating procedures.

Basic math skills for weighing, measuring, and calculating material quantities.

Ability to accurately record production information.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.

Mechanical aptitude and ability to identify basic equipment operating issues.

Ability to monitor machinery and recognize abnormal operating conditions.

Ability to perform hands-on production and material-handling activities.

Ability to work safely around industrial machinery.

Ability to work the required 3:00 PMโ11:30 PM schedule.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with industrial mixing or blending equipment.

Previous batching or compounding experience.

Experience operating mills, rollers, or screening machinery.

Experience in chemical, plastics, rubber, polymer, or related manufacturing environments.

Familiarity with production formulas and batch records.

Experience weighing and measuring raw materials.

Experience performing machine cleanouts and production changeovers.

Basic equipment troubleshooting and preventive maintenance experience.

Experience performing production quality checks or collecting QA/QC samples.
