Location : Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
Duration: Contract
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain Micro Focus COBOL batch and online applications.
- Analyze business requirements and implement technical solutions using COBOL.
- Debug and resolve issues in batch jobs and online programs.
- Develop and maintain job schedules using CA Workload Automation (WLA).
- Create and maintain Windows batch scripts / PowerShell scripts for automation and job execution.
- Participate in code reviews and follow coding standards and best practices.
- Coordinate with QA, business analysts, and operations teams for releases and deployments.
Work with MS SQL Server and Oracle databases for:
- Writing and optimizing SQL queries
- Stored procedure interaction
- Data validation and reconciliation
Technical Skills:
Primary Skills:
- Micro Focus COBOL (Enterprise Developer / Enterprise Server)
- Batch and online program development
- File handling (Flat files, Indexed, VSAM equivalent)
- Debugging and troubleshooting
Database Skills:
- MS SQL Server
- Oracle Database
- Strong SQL (joins, subqueries, performance tuning)
Scheduling & Automation:
- CA Workload Automation (WLA)
- Windows batch scripting / PowerShell
Tools & Environment:
- Windows
- Visual Studio or Eclipse (Micro Focus IDE)
- Version control tools (Git / SVN)
- CI/CD exposure is a plus
