Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day to day Port Adventures (shore excursions) operation while providing leadership, coaching and development for direct reports; Direct reports include: Port Adventures Host/Hostess, Recreation Host/Hostess, Recreation Coordinator, Recreation Staff and Assistant Port Adventures Manager
  • Manage ship board Recreation team and operational areas, which includes supervision of Port Adventures and Recreation Staff, Wide World of Sports Deck, and pool areas
  • Establish and maintain a strong partnership and working  relationship with the tour operators in each port of call
  • Monitor established sales goals in all ports of call; oversee desk operations
  • Handle Guest issues as they arise  
  • Oversee and ensure a positive Guest experience onboard while on tour in all ports of call
  • Manage onboard Port Adventures operational budget
  • Provide leadership for all direct reports; Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
    • Manage and create daily schedules 
    • Managing personnel files
    • Conducting performance reviews, including discipline as needed
    • Ensuring Project Onboard compliance
    • Monitoring STAR, while making necessary corrections
    • Onboard training, new hire and ongoing 
    • Succession planning 
    • Crew recognition and communication 
  • Coordinate and oversee all excursion dispatches from ship to tour operator (meeting locations, required paperwork, waivers, etc.) 
  • Communicate with Cruise Director and shore side Operations regarding consistency of operation between ships, shore excursion providers, Crew scheduling, team performance, etc. 
  • Partner with shore side Operations, Recruiting and Scheduling regarding returning Crew and future openings
  • Ensure reports capturing cruise counts and other pertinent information are complete, collected and sent shore side for historical data collection
  • Maintain and oversee ordering of supplies and equipment for each appropriate area 
  • Perform site inspections for possible new tours 

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of three to five years experience in a leadership role
  • Minimum three years experience working within a position that demonstrates sales experience, recreational experience and/or tour operations knowledge
  • Previous ship operations experience in role of Shore Excursion Manager or similar, desired
  • Proven computer skills
  • Proven experience leading and motivating a team
  • College degree or related schooling associated with recreation, education, business, tourism, marketing/sales, or related field of study preferred
  • Ability to organize and prioritize team goals
  • Ability to be flexible, self-motivated, handle multiple demands, stay calm under pressure and resolve issues quickly
  • Ability to seek out Guest contact while displaying outgoing attitude, enthusiasm, and self-motivation
  • Exceptional presentation, communication and organizational skills
  • Relates well to audiences of all ages and demographics while offering a passion for Guest service
  • Strong computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet knowledge
  • Ability to pass a pre-hire swim and successfully complete lifeguard training (conducted upon arrival on Orlando, Florida); certification requirements must also be maintained throughout contract
  • Ability to detect and respond to noises and distress signals in an aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility.
  • Must be able to observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility.
  • Ability to pass a vision screening with at least 20/25 vision, corrected or uncorrected.

Additional Information

This is a SHIPBOARD role. 
You must: 
  • Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel 
  • Be willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency responsibilities, and associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan 
  • Be willing to uphold the general safety management responsibilities as specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control 
  • If applicable, be willing to share a confined cabin with other crew members and appreciative of working and living in a multicultural environment that has strict rules and regulations 
Your Responsibilities: 
  • Have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman's visa (DCL will provide you with documents to obtain this) 
  • Complete a pre-employment medical 
  • Obtain a criminal background check 
  • Bring approved work shoes
