2020 Companies, in partnership with Meta, is hiring a Device Provisioning Manager!
About the Role
We equip a nationwide field team with AI glasses and VR headsets. Our representatives use these devices every day to run product demonstrations in retail environments. The Provisioning Manager is the technical owner of that fleet: this person builds, configures, and validates every device that reaches a field rep.
This is a deep technical role, not a supervisory one, for most of the year. Day to day, you are the person doing the provisioning: imaging and enrolling devices, fixing what breaks, and making the build process faster and more reliable. Several times a year, when we deploy new hardware or refresh the fleet at scale, the role shifts: you plan and run the build line, stand up and direct a temporary crew of technicians, and land your side of the deployment on schedule. You need to be equally effective in both modes and able to switch between them cleanly.
If you like owning a technical system completely, care about getting details right at volume, and are energized rather than annoyed by new and unproven consumer hardware, this role will fit you well.
Location: Onsite at our Provisioning warehouse in Fort Worth, TX 76177.
Schedule: Standard business hours, with extended hours and occasional weekends during bulk deployment windows
Our Benefits:
- Receive a competitive annual salary, paid weekly
- Eligible for quarterly bonus incentive
- Partial mobile phone reimbursement
- Eligible for health, dental, and vision benefits
- 401K Program with matching
- Paid Time Off
- Paid Holidays
- Scholarship opportunities for employees and direct family members
- Employee Assistance Program
- Leadership Development Program
- Employees' special pricing for multiple clients
Job Description:
What You'll Do:
Device Provisioning
- Configure and image devices to our standard build: OS and firmware updates, device management (MDM) enrollment, network and Wi-Fi profiles, demo/kiosk mode, account provisioning, app installation, and security settings
- Define and maintain the standard build specification for every device we support and keep it current as hardware and software change
- Functionally test every unit before it is released — display, optics, tracking, audio, battery health, controller pairing, and demo content playback — so no device reaches a field rep untested
- Mark build and test status in the asset system as devices move through provisioning, so the Inventory Manager's records always reflect what is ready to ship
- Diagnose device issues escalated from the field and provide remote technical support to field representatives who need clear, patient help
- Determine the disposition of failed devices — repairable in-house, or end of life — and document the technical findings that support that call
- Perform in-house repairs and component swaps where practical and technically validate every repaired or returned device before it goes back into circulation
- Securely wipe and re-provision returned devices and confirm data removal before a unit is redeployed or retired
- Maintain provisioning runbooks, building checklists, and troubleshooting documentation
Bulk Deployments
Bulk deployments are co-led with the Inventory Manager. You own the build line; they own receiving, kitting, and outbound logistics. Both of you will direct temporary staff within your own lane.
- Plan the technical side of each deployment: build specifications, per-unit build time, staging layout, tooling and network capacity, throughput targets, and milestones
- Onboard, train, and direct a temporary crew of technicians on the build line: assigning work, setting daily targets, and quality-checking their output
- Design the build and test workflow so a high volume of devices moves through without errors or bottlenecks
- Track build progress against plan daily, flag technical risks early, and report status and completion dates to operations leadership and field management
- Coordinate closely with the Inventory Manager so hardware arrives when the line needs it and finished units flow straight into kitting without idle time
- Run a technical post-deployment review: defect and failure rates by device type, build time per unit, what broke, and what to change before the next cycle
Technical Ownership and Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate new devices, firmware releases, and management tooling before they reach the field, and recommend when to adopt them
- Report on fleet technical health: failure trends, firmware compliance, enrollment status, and provisioning turnaround times
- Advise the Inventory Manager on hardware and spare-part requirements based on observed failure rates, so purchasing decisions are grounded in real data
- Manage the technical relationship with device vendors and their support channels, including escalations and firmware issues
- Continuously look for ways to automate, script, or streamline provisioning steps — this role is expected to make itself faster over time
Qualifications:
What You Bring:
Required
- Dallas-based: Lives in the Dallas–Fort Worth area and can work onsite at our warehouse. This role cannot be performed remotely
- 3+ years in device provisioning, IT deployment, endpoint engineering, or a closely related hands-on technical role
- Deep, current, hands-on technical fluency — you learn new hardware and software quickly, without waiting for a manual, and you are the person others come to when a device does something unexpected
- Working knowledge of AI-enabled devices and VR/XR hardware — for example, smart glasses, standalone VR headsets, and their companion apps, firmware, and management consoles
- Experience with mobile device management or endpoint management platforms (e.g., Microsoft Intune, Jamf, ArborXR, ManageXR, or comparable), including enrollment, profiles, and remote wipe
- Exceptional organization and attention to detail — at volume, small build inconsistencies become field failures, and you are the last check before that happens
- Demonstrated ability to run a project: build a plan, hold a schedule, direct other people's work, and report status clearly to leadership
- Comfortable working independently for long stretches with minimal supervision, and equally comfortable leading a crew when the work demands it
- Able to work effectively as a peer — coordinating daily with an Inventory Manager who owns adjacent work, without a reporting line between you
- Strong written and verbal communication, including with non-technical field staff
Preferred
- Prior experience supporting a distributed or remote field team
- Scripting or automation ability (PowerShell, Python, ADB, or similar) applied to device setup
- Familiarity with retail or in-store demonstration environments
- Experience hiring, onboarding, or supervising temporary or contract technical staff
- Hardware repair experience with consumer electronics or wearables
- Project management coursework or certification (CAPM, PMP, or equivalent practical experience)
Working Conditions
- On-site work in a depot/warehouse environment, including extended periods of standing, walking, and working at a staging bench
- Regularly lifting and moving boxes and device cases up to 30 pounds
- Extended hours and occasional weekend work during bulk deployment windows; standard business hours otherwise
- Occasional travel, up to 15%, for field support, vendor visits, or on-site deployments
