What to Expect
As an MEP Construction Project Manager at Tesla, you will own the full lifecycle of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and life-safety systems on high-velocity Campus expansions. You will drive design coordination, contractor execution, quality installation, commissioning, and occupancy approvals that enable new production lines to come online on schedule. This role sits at the intersection of Construction, Facilities, Commissioning, Manufacturing, and Operations, delivering the infrastructure that powers Tesla’s mission to build a world of amazing abundance.Â
What You’ll Do
- Accountable for managing project buy-out processes, which entails creating bidpackages, collaborating with procurement to issue Request for Proposals (RFPs),drafting contracts and Scopes of Work, and generating Work Orders
- Oversee and direct MEP mid-size construction projects, ensuring that they arecompleted in accordance with specifications, on time, and within budget
- Coordinate with project superintendents to establish project objectives, deliverables,and timelines
- Collaborate with the design team, architects, and engineersto review plans,specifications, and drawings. Also, expedite solutions to design clashes whilecoordinating with design team for best path forward
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including contracts, permits, changeorders, and progress reports
- Guarantee that all installations and systems comply with or surpass quality standards,safety regulations, and industry’s best practices. Supervise inspections, testing, and thecommissioning process. Additionally, oversee commissioning processes, which includesystem testing, coordinating outages, troubleshooting, and the final handover of thesystem to the client. Ensure comprehensive documentation, including as-builtdrawings, training materials, and operation manuals, are delivered
- Track site execution and inspections to ensure work is performed according to safetyguidelines and quality standards
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, ConstructionManagement or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience managing construction projects in largemanufacturing or commercial environments specifically with Electrical,Mechanical and Network systems
- Strong understanding of electrical systems design, installation, and commissioningfor mission-critical environments, including power distribution, backup powersystems, and lighting
- Strong understanding of mechanical system design, installation, and commissioningfor mission-critical environments, including cooling distribution, set-up oftemporary supply and returns systems
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Asana, MS Project, P6) and otheranalytical/design tools such as Excel and AutoCAD
- In-depth knowledge of electrical codes (e.g. NEC, NFPA), and industry best practices for electrical systems
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record ofovercoming challenges on complex projects
