412 Youth Zone - The 412 Youth Zone is located in downtown Pittsburgh.Ā The program provides comprehensive, welcoming, and youth driven services and support to young adults transitioning out of the foster care system or who are experiencing unstable housin
Position Title and Overview:
Ā
Young Adult Support Specialist-Mental Health
Ā
- Act as the primary point of contact for staff seeking guidance on responding to youth experiencing mental health challenges, emotional distress, or behavioral concerns.
- Provide early intervention and crisis support to youth presenting with mental health concerns by utilizing de-escalation techniques, offering emotional support, and coordinating appropriate referrals or emergency interventions when necessary.
- Build and maintain relationships with community mental health providers, facilitate referrals, and support youth in accessing counseling, psychiatric services, and other behavioral health resources.
- Support youth by providing transportation to appointments, services, and other approved activities as needed.
- Utilize conflict resolution strategies to address interpersonal challenges and maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive drop-in center environment.
Qualifications
Location and Travel Requirements:
This position is primarily located in Downtown Pittsburgh. All positions are also expected to come to training, meetings, and other events at Main Campus in McKeesport, as scheduled.
The travel required for this position is occasional.

Position Requirements:
- Act 33/34 and FBI Clearances
Ā
- Bachelorās degree preferred and experience working in the mental health field required. Other combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- Demonstrated knowledge of mental health conditions, trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and community behavioral health resources.
- Valid PA Driverās License and reliable transportation
- Requires travel to youth homes and throughout the community.
- Requires working varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
