A front desk job with fewer headaches
If you've worked a medical front desk before, you know the hard part usually isn't the patients. It's the insurance: verifying coverage, chasing prior auths, and explaining surprise bills to upset people.
That's a small part of the job here. American Health Center is a physician-owned practice that runs mostly on a direct care model, where patients pay us directly. We accept a few insurance plans, but most of our patients never touch insurance, so you'll spend far less time on billing headaches than at a typical office. Visits run 30 to 60 minutes instead of 7 minutes, and we see far fewer patients a day.
Our patients come to us for wellness and preventive care, perimenopause and women's health, medically supervised weight loss, and longevity care: helping people stay strong, sharp, and healthy for decades, not just treating problems once they show up. Many have spent years feeling rushed or dismissed elsewhere. Your job is to make them feel welcome from the first phone call.
What you'll do
- Greet patients by name, check them in, and keep the waiting area calm and welcoming
- Answer phones, return messages, and book appointments
- Collect payments, verify insurance for the patients who use it, and keep patient information up to date
- Coordinate lab orders, referrals, and medical records requests
- Help patients get started in our programs, including weight loss, perimenopause and hormone care, and longevity care, and keep their follow-ups on track
- Keep the front office organized and stocked
Your schedule
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 8:30 AM β 5:00 PM
- One Saturday a month: 7:30 AM β 2:00 PM
- About 24 hours a week, the same every week. No evenings, no on-call, no rotating shifts.
You'll do well here if you
- Are warm and at ease on the phone and in person. This matters more than anything else on this list.
- Have some front desk, medical office, or customer service experience. Medical experience is a plus but not required.
- Are comfortable on a computer. We'll train you on our system, and training is paid.
- Keep patient information confidential
- Notice what needs doing without being asked
- Are interested in wellness, women's health, weight loss, or longevity medicine. This isn't required, but you'll find the work more rewarding if you are.
Why people like working here
- A small team where you know everyone and your work actually gets noticed
- Patients who chose us and are glad to be here
- A predictable schedule you can plan your life around
- Generous PTO package, optional 401k with employer matching, staff discounts on aesthetics or wellness services
