Buffalo, NY
Part-time general medical oncology at a Veterans teaching hospital: three clinic days a week, with a defined share of call weeks.
The Community
Buffalo is one of the most affordable big cities in the Northeast. You get a revitalized waterfront at Canalside, the Elmwood Village and Allentown neighborhoods, a nationally known food and architecture scene, and NFL Bills and NHL Sabres home games. Niagara Falls is about 20 miles away. Toronto is roughly a 90-minute drive, and the Lake Erie and Finger Lakes shores, wineries and ski country are an easy weekend trip. Suburbs such as Amherst, Clarence, Orchard Park, East Aurora and Williamsville have well-regarded schools and short commutes.
Getting Here
Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF) is about 8 miles (15β20 minutes) from the facility, with nonstop service to major hubs including New York City, Chicago, Atlanta, Charlotte, Washington DC and Florida.
The Facility
The Buffalo VA Medical Center is the main hospital of the VA Western New York Healthcare System. It is an academic teaching hospital that serves Veterans across Western New York, and its Oncology/Hematology section provides outpatient clinics, inpatient consultation and a multidisciplinary tumor board program alongside VA staff oncologists and residents.
