Monthly Commitment: ~8 hours per month direct engagement
TheMedical Director will provide comprehensiveclinical leadership, medical direction, and regulatory oversight for thePrinceton Fire Department First Responder Organization (FRO).
The Medical Director will oversee EMS operations includingprotocol development, clinical quality assurance, training programs, and regulatory compliance in accordance withTexas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) regulations and Texas Administrative Code.
Princeton Fire Department providesAdvanced Life Support (ALS) first responder services, while patient transport is handled by a contracted ambulance provider operating under separate medical direction.
Key Responsibilities
EMS Medical Direction
- Provideonline and offline medical control for Princeton Fire Department EMS personnel.
- Ensure24/7 medical consultation availability for clinical issues not covered by standing protocols.
- Oversee clinical practice ofEMTs and paramedics.
- Ensure compliance withstate EMS regulations and medical protocols.
- Provide direct clinical consultation for complex patient care situations.
- Develop and maintainstanding orders and EMS treatment protocols.
- Review and update protocols at leastbi-annually.
- Promoteevidence-based EMS practices.
- Design and implement astructured EMS Quality Improvement program.
- Conductchart audits and patient care reviews using the electronic patient care reporting system.
- Submitannual EMS quality improvement report to the Fire Chief.
- Provide guidance forcontinuing education and certification programs for EMS personnel.
- Participate inEMS training sessions and clinical instruction.
- Assist withNational Registry recertification and Texas certification compliance.
- Advise on EMS system operations and improvements.
- Maintain liaison withhospitals, physicians, and EMS agencies.
- Participate inEMS operational planning and system development.
- Provide medical direction fortactical medic programs supporting law enforcement operations.
- Supportdisaster response planning and mass casualty incident protocols.
- Participate in emergency planning within theCity Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
Ensure EMS operations comply with:
- Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS)
- Texas Administrative Code (Title 22, Chapter 197)
- National EMS standards and best practices
Licensure:CurrentTexas Medical License
Board Certification
- Board Certified in Emergency Medicine
- American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
OR - American Osteopathic Association (AOA)
- American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
- Experience serving asEMS Medical Director or Associate Medical Director
- Experience working withEMTs and Paramedics
- Experience inpre-hospital emergency medical systems
- Active participation inEmergency Department clinical practice
- Experience inEMS training and education programs
- Experience developingEMS Quality Improvement programs
- Experience withtactical medical operations
- Experience working withmunicipal fire department EMS systems
- Familiarity withEMS dispatch and communications systems
- MaintainDEA registration if required for EMS pharmacy operations
