Summary
Imagine what you could do here! At Apple, new ideas have a way of becoming extraordinary products, services, and customer experiences very quickly. Bring passion and dedication to your job and there's no telling what you could accomplish.
Technology from the Media, Graphics, & Compute (MGC) team is at the heart of Apple's products. MGC is looking for an Engineering Program Manager to help run software development work for Media Intelligence. The team builds the systems and technologies behind intelligent media experiences across Apple's product line. These include apps such as Photos, FaceTime, and Camera, as well as system-wide features. You will work directly with software engineers and machine learning researchers to deliver new features across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS.
Description
The Media Intelligence team brings together systems and performance engineering, video and multimodal machine learning, and generative AI for image and video.
Responsibilities
- Craft and maintain project implementation plans for the Media Intelligence team's commitments, using Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall methodology.
- Maintain a multi-year roadmap of feature commitments-- The roadmap should cover the dependencies between ML models, on-device systems, and the product features that ship them.
- Drive cross-functional delivery with ML research, systems and performance engineering, and client teams such as Photos, FaceTime, and Camera.
- Coordinate the path from model development to shipping in products-- This includes model integration, performance and power optimization, and quality validation.
- Ensure strong communication channels between Media Intelligence, other media teams, and engineering partners across Apple.
- Track and report progress, risks, and opportunities for the project or technology area.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of Project / Program Management in a high-tech environment.
- Experience delivering customer-facing client-side software features or projects from concept through delivery.
- Proven leadership on major, cross-functional software projects.
- Strong technical proficiency in machine learning (AIML), computer vision, video, or graphics.
- BS/MS (EE/CS/CE) or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to give succinct, accurate executive summaries of project status and complicated engineering situations.
- A track record of quickly understanding technical concepts in a wide range of fields.
- Experience managing ML-driven programs-- examples are model training and evaluation cycles, dataset dependencies, and moving research into production.
- Familiarity with generative AI, such as diffusion models, multimodal LLMs, and AI agents.
- Experience with on-device performance, power, and hardware acceleration trade-offs (GPU, Neural Engine, SIMD).
- Experience with video coding and processing systems (codecs, formats, containers).
- Experience with software development in consumer media platforms: mobile, media players, or camera and photo applications.
- Experience with continuous integration and test automation practices.
