Job Summary
Seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide mechanical engineering support for a production rollout. The role will focus on CAD design, technical drawings, supplier coordination, component development, environmental testing, inventory structures, and troubleshooting production and assembly issues.
Candidates with hands-on machining experience who are proficient with Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or similar CAD tools and are interested in transitioning into a broader engineering role are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide mechanical engineering support for the production rollout.
- Create and modify CAD designs and technical drawings as production needs evolve.
- Coordinate with suppliers to procure and manufacture parts.
- Identify and qualify new suppliers for components such as gaskets, wiring, and other mechanical parts.
- Assist with environmental testing activities.
- Establish inventory structures for new parts and assemblies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production and assembly issues.
- Travel to assembly and production locations as needed.
- Document industrial processes and communicate technical information clearly in written and spoken form.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar field with 2+ years of experience; OR
- Associate degree and technical certifications, such as machinist or CNC operator, with 2+ years of experience; OR
- 5+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
- 2+ years of relevant experience preferred.
- Mechanical/CAD design experience using Autodesk Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
- Experience creating and interpreting technical drawings.
- Ability to apply tolerancing practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to document industrial processes and technical procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing electronics enclosures.
- Familiarity with GD&T concepts.
- Hands-on machining experience.
- Experience with manufacturing, production, assembly, or supplier coordination.
Work Arrangement & Travel
- Candidate must be based in the Atlanta area.
- Hybrid work arrangement with a minimum of 3 days per week on-site, typically Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
- Some Thursdays may be required.
- During peak production periods, on-site presence may be required up to 5 days per week.
- Ability to travel to assembly and production locations as needed.
Work Arrangement:
- Hybrid – On-site 3+ days per week, typically Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday; some Thursdays may be required.
- Contract Duration: Initial contract with possibility of extension.
- Contract-to-Hire: Possible.
