  • Advisory, Due Diligence, and Consulting: Offering world-class technical, operational, and financial diligence to infrastructure investors and developers. We advise debt and equity investors throughout the project finance and M&A process to protect our clients' interests.
  • Independent Engineering: Producing bankable engineering reports that capture technical, commercial, operational, and financial data required to secure underwriting of complex projects.
  • Owner’s Engineering, Engineering Services, and Project Management: Implementing project execution plans that meet financial institutions' needs, minimizing CapEx, and delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget.
  • Front-End Engineering, EPCM, and EPC Services: Supporting developers on all project aspects, from conceptual phase to detailed design engineering, procurement, and construction management services.
  • Operations and Field Services: Ensuring project success from execution to operations with operational readiness and performance improvement services, including commissioning and start-up support for diverse projects.

The role involves leading mechanical design and engineering delivery for capital projects in energy, industrial, and infrastructure markets, from feasibility through commissioning. Responsibilities include managing process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, equipment specifications, hydraulic and thermal calculations, 3D models, and construction drawings. Coordination with various disciplines, procurement, construction management, and equipment vendors is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Analysis
    • Develop mechanical basis of design, equipment lists, and load and duty summaries for capital equipment packages.
    • Produce equipment arrangement drawings and perform various calculations, including hydraulic and pressure drop.
    • Size and specify equipment such as pumps, blowers, compressors, and heat exchangers.
    • Build and maintain coordinated 3D models and lead clash detection and model review cycles.
  • Piping and Mechanical Systems
    • Develop piping specifications and provide guidance for routing piping for constructability and maintenance access.
    • Design pipe supports, specify insulation, and define test requirements and mechanical completion criteria.
  • Project Execution
    • Serve as discipline lead on projects, controlling scope, hours, schedule, and deliverable quality.
    • Prepare and defend engineering estimates and review vendor submittals and shop drawings.
    • Support commissioning, startup, and performance testing.
  • Compliance and Codes
    • Design to various standards and support hazard and operability studies.
    • Seal and issue drawings and calculations as Engineer of Record where licensure permits.
  • Technical Leadership
    • Check the work of junior engineers and designers and mentor engineering staff.
    • Present technical positions to clients and authorities having jurisdiction.

Required Qualifications

  • Education
    • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
    • Coursework or demonstrated depth in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and machine design.
  • Experience
    • Ten years’ experience in industrial, energy, process, or infrastructure facilities.
    • Experience with capital equipment scopes, including specification, procurement support, and commissioning.
  • Software
    • Proficiency in Autodesk suite, including AutoCAD, Revit, and Plant 3D.
    • Navisworks for model coordination and clash detection.
  • Technical Skills
    • Hydraulic network analysis and rotating equipment selection.
    • Pressure vessel design review and material selection for various services.
  • Professional Skills
    • Technical writing and direct client communication.
    • Coordination across concurrent projects and judgment on when to escalate risks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within 3 to 6 months.
  • Experience with process and utility piping design and pipe stress analysis.
  • Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and experience with renewable natural gas or carbon capture process equipment.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • This position is based in our Greenville, SC office five days per week. Remote and hybrid arrangements are not available.
  • Site visits require personal protective equipment and may involve work in extreme conditions.
  • Occasional extended hours during proposal periods and commissioning.
