Key Responsibilities
- Perform and document evaluations of components to ASME BPVC Section III requirements, including analysis for pressure and mechanical/thermal loadings (Primary Stress, Primary plus Secondary Stress Intensity Range, and Fatigue).
- Use evaluation results to optimize component design.
- Perform analysis using ANSYS finite element software and CAD packages.
- Interpret project scope and technical requirements.
- Serve as a technical lead for the NSSS Component Analysis Group, with responsibility for results and engineering oversight.
- Mentor and provide technical direction to less experienced engineers.
- Coordinate with co-workers and other disciplines to resolve technical problems and support multi-disciplinary design activities.
- Acquire, maintain, and develop training qualifications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Education: B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred) from an ABET-accredited four-year college or university.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of full-time relevant experience.
- Extensive experience usingANSYS to perform stress analysis perASME BPVC Section III, Subsections NB, NG, and/or NF.
- Detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards, and regulations.
- Must be eligible to work underDepartment of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
- Experience in seismic/dynamic analysis.
- Programming skills (e.g., ANSYS APDL, MATLAB, Python).
