What to Expect
Join Vehicle Engineering in Berlin to build a world of amazing abundance. You will help design the next generation of Tesla products. You will work in a flat, highly collaborative team where technical contribution matters at every level. You will be expected to challenge and be challenged, to create, to innovate. We move fast, we build real products, and we work on some of the most ambitious automotive programs in the world. That should excite you.Â
Be part of a growing Closures engineering team, executing, and launching products for Europe and global markets. You will own static and dynamic sealing systems and Daylight Opening (DLO) trims: how they seal, how they look, and how they assemble. From elastomeric seals to TP and metallic trims — you take designs from concept through production.
What You’ll Do
- Design, engineer, and launch static and dynamic seals and DLO trims for Tesla closuresÂ
- Specify elastomeric seal designs in 2D sections and 3D geometry (CATIA V5/3DX), including component specsÂ
- Drive CAE and physical testing, then iterate geometry and materials until appearance, function, quality, cost, and weight targets are metÂ
- Select materials for elastomeric seals and DLO trims, and design for high-volume manufacturing and assemblyÂ
- Apply tolerance analysis, GD&T, DFM, DFMEA, and PFMEA, and fold the results back into the designÂ
- Partner with body, closures, electrical/firmware, exterior, interiors, Design Studio, manufacturing, and suppliers from feasibility through prototype and production buildsÂ
What You’ll Bring
- Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent experience, with evidence of exceptional abilityÂ
- Strong fundamentals in seal, trim, or related mechanical design — from internships and student projects to years of production ownershipÂ
- CAD fluency (CATIA V5/3DX preferred) for 2D sections and 3D geometry, and comfort reading FEA/CAE resultsÂ
- Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM, and FMEA — or a fast path to building itÂ
- Bias toward ownership: you take designs from idea to hardware, improve the process, and communicate clearly across teamsÂ
Nice to haveÂ
- Static/dynamic seals and exterior trimsÂ
- Complex seal mold designÂ
- Supplier collaboration on new seals and trims from concept through productionÂ
This role is open to all levels. Junior engineers grow into full ownership. Experts set architecture for the next generation. If you can design a seal that keeps water out, looks right, and builds at volume — we want to talk.
