What to Expect
Join Vehicle Engineering in Berlin to build a world of amazing abundance. You will help design the next generation of Tesla products. You will work in a flat, highly collaborative team where technical contribution matters at every level. You will be expected to challenge and be challenged, to create, to innovate. We move fast, we build real products, and we work on some of the most ambitious automotive programs in the world. That should excite you.Â
Be part of a growing Closures engineering team, executing, and launching products for Europe and global markets. You will own the dynamic exterior systems of Tesla vehicles: side doors, hoods, and liftgates. From first sketch and clay through architecture, validation, and launch — you take Closures in White (CIW) from concept through production.
What You’ll Do
- Conceptualize, design, engineer, and launch structural components and assemblies for side doors, hoods, and liftgatesÂ
- Integrate and package with Mechanisms, Sealing, and Glazing engineers within each closureÂ
- Set system-level architecture and hit targets for appearance, function, quality, cost, and weightÂ
- Partner with Design Studio to balance form, function, and qualityÂ
- Lead sealing flange and hinge axis development with the body teamÂ
- Drive manufacturing processes and material selection for world-class craftsmanship, fit, and finishÂ
- Apply tolerance analysis, DVP&R, CAE, DFM, DFMEA, and PFMEA, and fold the results back into the designÂ
- Partner with manufacturing and suppliers from feasibility through prototype and production buildsÂ
What You’ll Bring
- Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent experience, with evidence of exceptional abilityÂ
- Strong engineering fundamentals and mechanics of materials, with creative problem-solvingÂ
- CAD fluency in 3D surface and part modeling (CATIA V5/3DX preferred)Â
- Working knowledge of stamping, casting, DFM, and tolerance analysis — or a fast path to building itÂ
- You take designs from idea to hardware, improve the process, and communicate clearly across teamsÂ
Nice to haveÂ
- Consumer product or automotive design experienceÂ
- Advanced manufacturing technologiesÂ
- Vehicle crash and safety requirementsÂ
This role is open to all levels. Junior engineers grow into full ownership. Experts set architecture for the next generation. If you have a passion for product design and the drive to take it from concept to production — we want to talk.Â
