📌 Role Overview

You design and developvehicle exterior components and systems (like bumpers, trims, underbody parts). The role spansfull product lifecycle—from concept to production launch.

🚗 Key Responsibilities

• Concept design & feasibility studies

• Packaging components within vehicle architecture

• Design forperformance, cost, weight, and craftsmanship

• Work closely with Tesla's design/styling teams

• Detailed engineering:

  • Surface development

  • Structures & attachments

  • GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)

• UseDFSS (Design for Six Sigma) methods

• Interpret CAE/simulation results

• Collaborate with:

  • Suppliers (DFM, tooling, MoldFlow)

  • Manufacturing & procurement teams

• Supportprototype → validation → production launch

🎓 Requirements

• Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)

• CAD skills (preferablyCATIA V5/V6)

• Strong fundamentals in mechanical design

• Knowledge of:

  • Plastics & injection molding

  • Painting processes

  • Manufacturing methods (casting, stamping, composites)

• Experience taking products fromconcept → production

• Supplier collaboration experience

Same core responsibilities, but withhigher ownership, complexity, and leadership. You act as asystem-level engineer, not just a component designer.

• Lead design ofcomplex exterior systems (not just parts)

• Make critical decisions onarchitecture, materials, and trade-offs

• Drivecross-functional coordination across engineering teams

• Mentor junior engineers

• Owntechnical delivery from concept to launch

  • Design validation

  • Manufacturing readiness

  • Supplier strategy

📈 Experience Typically Required

• ~5–7+ years (or more) in automotive/product design

• Proven experience delivering production programs

• Strong system-level thinking & problem-solving
