MDU Fiber Field Construction Supervisor

Position Overview

If you've run fiber crews in apartment buildings, you know the hard part isn't the fiber. It's everything around it: the conduit that was supposed to be clear, the access that fell through, the splicer waiting on a pathway that's two days behind. As our MDU Fiber Field Supervisor, that's yours to solve. You'll lead the foremen behind our proofing, inside wiring, and splicing crews, plus subcontractors, on multi-dwelling unit (MDU) and Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) builds that connect the people who live there.

Most days you're moving between sites. One morning starts with a property manager who needs the schedule changed. The next starts with a foreman and a blocked duct. A lot of the job is keeping proofing, InvisiLight® installation, and splicing in step so no crew sits idle. It's real field work, inside occupied buildings and out in the weather.

This isn't an entry-level seat. We need someone with solid MDU or FTTH fiber construction time and a track record running crews, who stays level when three sites need them at once. If the buildings you run finish clean and on time, we want you running ours.

Quick Facts

  • Location: Bellevue, WA area (travel between job sites throughout the Greater Seattle area)
  • Wage: $65,000 – $100,000 per year DOE
  • Shift/Schedule: Typically Monday – Friday, 8-10 hours a day. 6-7am start time is typical.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the foremen running our fiber proofing, inside wiring, and splicing crews, plus subcontractors, on FTTH and MDU projects. This includes coaching, field training, performance feedback, onboarding, and helping plan staffing
  • Run daily field operations across multiple sites: set priorities and production targets with foremen, sequence the work, and keep handoffs between crews clean so projects stay on schedule
  • Oversee fiber proofing (proving and rodding conduit, clearing blockages, prepping pathways, coordinating repairs that don't need new directional drilling), inside wiring for InvisiLight® installations, and splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and turn-up, including live fiber in inside and outside plant
  • Plan labor, vehicles, tools, equipment, materials, and subcontractor resources, and track utilization to keep crews productive and projects profitable
  • Inspect job sites against drawings, fiber designs, splice documentation, and specifications. Catch workmanship, safety, and quality issues (damaged facilities, blocked pathways, failed installations, access problems, material shortages) and drive the fix
  • Lead safety meetings and job briefings, partner with Health & Safety and Talent & Culture on incidents and near misses, and keep work compliant with company policy, customer requirements, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, and federal, state, and local rules
  • Coordinate with property managers, building owners, customers, project managers, and subcontractors on site access, scheduling, field conditions, and completion
  • Approve timesheets, production reports, and completed work, document field changes and change requests, and keep leadership updated on production, risks, delays, quality, and staffing

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of field experience in MDU deployment or FTTH, including 2+ years supervising crews, foremen, or subcontractors across multiple sites
  • Hands-on knowledge of fiber placement, pathway proofing, inside wiring, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting in residential, commercial, or MDU settings, and how those phases fit together on FTTH and MDU projects
  • Ability to read construction drawings, fiber designs, splice documentation, work orders, and specifications, and to troubleshoot field issues
  • Organized, decisive leader who handles competing priorities and communicates clearly with crews, customers, contractors, property managers, and building owners
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction or field reporting systems
  • Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and ability to travel between sites throughout the Greater Seattle area

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with InvisiLight® or similar inside fiber installation systems
  • Experience overseeing proofing, inside wiring, and splicing together, with both internal crews and subcontractors
