Material Management

Summary:

• Duration: 6 months
• 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM - 06:30 AM (Lunch: Flexible)

Responsibilities:

• Perform manual and clerical duties related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing, and delivering a variety of materials, equipment, and supplies.
• Exercise decision making and independent judgment due to a broader knowledge of the materials handling operation.
• Provide on-the-job training and problem resolution to others.
• Handle high-dollar cost and fragile equipment or supplies and hazardous materials, such as chemicals or gases, when necessary.
• Count, weigh, or measure incoming or outgoing items to compare identifying information and variety against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
• Examine incoming shipments for damage or shortages and correspond with shipper to rectify; complete paperwork or forms required for documentation.
• Determine method of shipment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates; prepare materials for shipping by weighing, packaging, and stamping; prepare necessary shipping forms such as bills of lading.
• Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage.
• Provide on-the-job training to lower-level employees and resolve problems utilizing knowledge of shipping/receiving/stock operations.
• Perform material request and picking, shipping, receiving, packing material, stocking material, and shop support – kitting.
• Load/unload trucks with a pallet jack, may use hydraulic cart and/or forklift, and will drive forklift (sit-down).
• Conduct cycle counting.
• Answer calls from customers with excellent communication skills.
• Respond to customer emails in a professional manner.
• Perform general housekeeping duties such as sweeping and emptying trash.

Requirements:

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
