Are you always spotting the next great Reel, TikTok or photo opportunity? Do you love creating content that feels genuine, engaging and connected to real people?

Central Kids is looking for a creative and organised Marketing & Communications Coordinator to help tell the stories of our tamariki, whānau, kaiako and communities.

This is a practical, early-career marketing role for someone who enjoys being out and about, phone in hand, capturing authentic moments and turning them into content people want to watch and share. You will be based in our Rotorua support office and regularly travel to our kindergartens across Bay of Plenty, Rotorua Lakes, Central Plateau, Thames-Coromandel and Waikato.

About Central Kids

Central Kids is a not-for-profit kindergarten association where tamariki are at the centre of everything we do.

Our ten-year strategy,Kōkiri Hī 2026–2036, is focused on growing strong learners, strengthening connections with whānau and building a sustainable organisation. This role will help turn our strategy into engaging weekly content, local stories, campaigns and meaningful insights about what is working.

What you’ll be doing

No two weeks will look exactly the same. You will:

  • Visit our kindergartens to film and photograph tamariki, kaiako and whānau, ensuring the appropriate consents are in place.
  • Create engaging short-form video for TikTok, Instagram Reels and Facebook.
  • Keep up with social media trends, sounds and formats, adapting them appropriately for an early childhood education organisation.
  • Plan and manage a monthly content calendar across our social channels.
  • Respond to comments and messages and direct enrolment enquiries to the appropriate Regional Manager.
  • Create on-brand graphics, flyers, posters, newsletters, banners and event materials using Canva.
  • Develop branded Canva templates that kindergartens can use to create local content.
  • Keep our website pages, vacancy information and enrolment details current.
  • Coordinate the marketing inbox, content requests, events calendar, asset library, bookings, merchandise, print runs and marketing administration.
  • Support regional digital campaigns by creating video, photography, graphics and copy for our digital delivery agency.
  • Review marketing and campaign insights and contribute to monthly reporting.

About you

You might be early in your marketing career, but you already know how to create content that catches attention and feels natural to each platform.

You will bring:

  • A genuine willingness to travel regularly and create content on site.
  • Strong working knowledge of TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.
  • Confidence using Canva and Microsoft 365.
  • The ability to film and edit effective short-form video using a phone.
  • A portfolio of your work, which could include TikToks, Reels, Canva designs, photographs or short videos.
  • Strong organisation and follow-through, with the ability to manage calendars, requests, assets and competing priorities.
  • A friendly and confident approach that helps kaiako and whānau feel comfortable.
  • Care and good judgement when managing consent and content involving tamariki.
  • Approximately one to three years’ experience in marketing, social media or administration, or equivalent experience gained through study, internships, freelance work or managing your own channels.
  • A full New Zealand driver licence.
  • The ability to pass Police vetting and the required Children’s Act 2014 safety check.

Experience with Meta Business Suite, TikTok Business Center, Google Analytics 4, website content management systems or video-editing tools would be helpful, but is not essential. A marketing, communications or design qualification, conversational te reo Māori, or experience within education, not-for-profit or community organisations would also be an advantage.

You’ll thrive in this role if you are

  • Creative, curious and quick to spot a good story
  • Confident and friendly when visiting kindergartens
  • Happy to spend time on the road
  • Organised and reliable
  • Comfortable balancing creative work with marketing administration
  • Connected to, or interested in developing strong connections across, Rotorua and the wider Bay of Plenty communities
  • Committed to respectful use of te reo Māori, macrons and Māori imagery, with a willingness to keep learning

Why join Central Kids?

This is an opportunity to build your marketing career while creating content that has a real connection to tamariki, whānau and local communities.

You will have the chance to visit kindergartens across our rohe, develop our social media presence, create practical resources for our teams and contribute to important projects, including refreshed website and enrolment messaging.
