Clayton Services is searching for a Marine Structural Project Manager to join a growing engineering organization in Houston. The Marine Structural Project Manager will lead structural engineering projects involving marine and waterfront facilities while overseeing project scope, schedules, budgets, technical deliverables, and project teams.

Job Type: Direct Hire
Salary: $120,000 - $170,000, depending on experience.

Marine Structural Project Manager Responsibilities:

  • Manage marine and waterfront structural projects from initial planning and design through construction support.
  • Develop and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, staffing requirements, and overall project execution.
  • Lead structural engineering and design efforts for waterfront structures such as docks, piers, wharves, bulkheads, retaining structures, and related facilities.
  • Review structural calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and other technical deliverables.
  • Coordinate engineering activities with internal teams, clients, contractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
  • Develop project proposals, scopes of work, cost estimates, and engineering fee estimates.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers, designers, and drafting personnel.
  • Identify project risks and resolve technical, scheduling, and construction-related issues.
  • Support construction activities through review of submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and field conditions.
  • Participate in inspections, assessments, repairs, and rehabilitation projects involving existing marine and waterfront structures.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and assist with project meetings and technical presentations.
  • Ensure engineering work complies with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and quality requirements.

Marine Structural Project Manager Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles and design practices.
  • Experience with marine, waterfront, port, heavy civil, or similar structural projects.
  • Knowledge of concrete, structural steel, timber, foundations, and earth-retaining systems.
  • Strong project management, organization, budgeting, and scheduling skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct and mentor technical staff.
  • Ability to review and interpret engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, engineers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Willingness to perform occasional field work and travel as project needs require.

Marine Structural Project Manager Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 8+ years of structural engineering experience preferred.
  • Previous project management or technical leadership experience required.
  • Marine, waterfront, port, or closely related structural engineering experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with structural inspections, rehabilitation, and construction-phase engineering is a plus.
