Job Description
We are seeking a Manufacturing Process Documentation Supervisor to lead the critical link between engineering design and shop-floor execution. The successful candidate will oversee a team of authors and technicians in the development of comprehensive, high-quality technical documentation for CNC machining and welding tasks. The Supervisor will be responsible for establishing the standards for workflow validation, ensuring the elimination of production ambiguity, and driving the strategic implementation of rigid, repeatable, and error-proof process steps to reduce scrap and ensure consistent quality.Job Summary:
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of Work Instruction Authors, providing technical guidance and oversight to ensure engineering specifications are translated into clear, concise, and actionable instructions.
- Operational Oversight: Manage the collaboration between Manufacturing Engineers and shop-floor personnel, ensuring that workflow validations are thorough and that the "voice of the operator" is integrated into the documentation process.
- Standardization & Governance: Establish and maintain the organizational standards for visual aids, 3D modeling callouts, and detailed diagrams to ensure consistency across all production lines.
- Process Optimization: Direct the analysis of manufacturing sequences to identify systemic failure points and mandate the implementation of "poka-yoke" (error-proofing) methodologies across the department.
- Quality Integration: Oversee the integration of quality control checkpoints and inspection steps into the manufacturing process flow, ensuring 100% compliance with quality standards.
- Performance Management: Set KPIs for documentation accuracy and production efficiency; conduct reviews of work instructions to ensure they meet the highest standards of repeatability and clarity.
Required Skills and Education
Requirements:- Education:Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field or 8+ years experience in a welding or CNC machining manufacturing environment.
- Leadership Experience: Proven experience in a supervisory or lead role within a CNC machining and/or welding production environment.
- Technical Expertise: Demonstrated track record of managing the creation of formal work instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), or process routings.
- Systems Knowledge: Proficiency in 3D modeling software and the ability to oversee the creation of complex technical visual aids.
- Tooling Expertise: Strong understanding of the design and application of machining and welding fixtures to guide the team in technical accuracy.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills, with a proven ability to bridge the gap between engineering theory and shop-floor application.
- Advanced mastery of "poka-yoke" and Lean Manufacturing methodologies in a production setting.
- Extensive experience in cross-functional leadership, managing stakeholders from both the engineering and production departments.
- Deep familiarity with industry quality standards and the management of rigorous inspection frameworks.

- 3D Modeling/CAD Software (for visual aids and diagrams) Creo Parametric
- Technical Writing tools for SOP and Work Instruction development
- Tooling and Fixturing design principles
