Key Responsibilities

  • Interact daily with Client design organizations to interpret their needs and requirements for manufacturing entities.
  • Contribute to design organizations by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
  • Perform subcontract technical lead duties, including preparing requirements documents and schedules, and coordinating and monitoring the technical aspects of assigned manufacturing and manufacturing development projects.
  • Review supplier manufacturing documentation to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, standards, and QA/QC requirements.
  • Develop, check, or review internal drawings, studies, and specifications.
  • Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with procedures, applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards, and specifications.
  • Manage supplier manufacturing mockup planning and test results to ensure desired outcomes are achieved.
  • Perform surveys of new manufacturing suppliers to assess capabilities and document results.
  • Lead the grading of technical proposals and work with the Procurement team on supplier selection.
  • Assist the Product Cost Management team with cost estimates and value engineering studies.
  • Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing manufacturing information and trends, including statistical analysis.
  • Provide mentoring and technical direction to less experienced engineers and serve as a technical lead for the I&C Manufacturing Engineering Group.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: B.S. degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline, from an accredited four-year college or university. An advanced degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of full-time engineering experience in the development and oversight of manufacturing of I&C systems and electrical components.
  • Manufacturing development experience for complex designs, components, or systems in a regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and strong technical writing skills.
  • Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software and MS Office.
  • IEEE code experience.
  • Eligibility: Must be eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
  • Travel: Able to travel 10%–25% to local, national, and international suppliers, including work in supplier manufacturing shop environments with familiarity with shop safety requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610/620.
