Job description
Manager, Solution Assurance
Thoriva · Remote · Full-Time
Thoriva, an Infinite Company, is seeking an experienced technical professional to review proposed designs for client-requested projects supporting a student loan servicing platform. This role will evaluate technical solutions to ensure they provide for successful borrower outcomes according to overarching program guidance while also meeting client needs for usability, operational efficiency, scalability, and maintainability.
The ideal candidate will understand how system design decisions affect borrowers and the teams that service their accounts. This includes processes such as repayment plan changes, deferment and forbearance requests, payment processing, delinquency outreach and follow-up, account maintenance, and other servicing activities. The role will also use servicing data to validate and monitor the overall success of our clients.
ABOUT THE COMPANY
Thoriva is an AI technology company delivering intelligent, data-driven solutions to transform government operations. We combine AI solutions, commercial expertise, and complex business logic to address government and federal agencies’ biggest challenges.
JOB SUMMARY
As Manager of Solution Assurance, you will provide independent, borrower-centered review of proposed technical designs for enhancements to the Education Platform. You will assess whether designs accurately translate business and regulatory requirements, support efficient client operations, anticipate borrower and account-level experiences, and include appropriate controls, exception handling, monitoring, and reporting. You will partner with clients and internal delivery teams to challenge assumptions constructively, identify gaps early, and recommend practical improvements before solutions enter development or production.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Review proposed technical designs for client-requested projects and evaluate alignment with documented business rules, regulatory requirements, servicing operations, and intended borrower outcomes.
Trace proposed processing across the full borrower and account lifecycle, including requests, eligibility decisions, calculations, status changes, notifications, follow-up activities, exceptions, reversals, and downstream reporting.
Evaluate whether solutions enable clients to complete servicing work accurately and efficiently without unnecessary manual intervention, duplicate activity, or excessive staffing requirements.
Identify design gaps, conflicting rules, unaddressed scenarios, data dependencies, control weaknesses, and unintended borrower or client impacts before development begins.
Ask targeted questions, document findings, distinguish required corrections from recommendations, and track design decisions and actions through closure.
Recommend controls, exception handling, reconciliation, auditability, monitoring, and reporting needed to support reliable servicing outcomes.
Review testing strategies and acceptance criteria to ensure coverage of borrower journeys, high-risk scenarios, edge cases, operational workflows, and downstream impacts.
Use servicing data to establish baselines, identify anomalies, monitor processing trends, and detect potential defects or emerging risks before clients or borrowers are materially affected.
Develop repeatable queries, dashboards, reports, and alerting criteria that support proactive monitoring of system processing and borrower outcomes.
Analyze trends across transactions, account statuses, requests, exceptions, work queues, and servicing events to identify patterns that warrant investigation.
Translate technical design findings and analytical results into clear, concise communications for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Contribute to design-review standards, checklists, reusable patterns, quality measures, and lessons learned that improve future project delivery.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with student loan servicing, consumer lending, financial services, government contracting, or another highly regulated environment.
Knowledge of loan servicing activities such as repayment plan processing, deferment and forbearance, payment application, delinquency management, borrower communications, and regulatory reporting.
Proven experience in technical design review, solution analysis, product management, business systems analysis, software delivery, servicing operations, data analytics, or a related role.
Strong ability to evaluate technical designs against business requirements, operational workflows, data needs, controls, and intended customer outcomes.
Experience analyzing complex, rules-driven processing and identifying gaps, exceptions, dependencies, and unintended consequences.
Understanding of software development lifecycle practices, including requirements, design, development, testing, release management, production monitoring, and defect resolution.
Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to challenge assumptions constructively and build alignment across clients, business teams, and technical teams.
Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to document design findings, risks, decisions, recommendations, and analytical conclusions.
Strong judgment, attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to protecting borrower and client outcomes.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience translating statutes, regulations, contracts, policies, or complex business rules into system requirements and technical processing.
Ability to understand system interfaces, data flows, batch and real-time processing, calculations, status changes, and downstream impacts.
Experience with data warehouses, relational databases, data quality controls, anomaly detection, and operational performance monitoring.
Strong data analysis skills, including the ability to query large datasets, investigate anomalies, validate hypotheses, and communicate actionable findings.
Experience with SQL and tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Python, R, SAS, or comparable analytics technologies.
Experience conducting solution assurance, architecture review, failure-mode analysis, risk assessment, or production-readiness review.
Familiarity with Agile, hybrid, or Waterfall delivery models and tools used for requirements, development, testing, and issue management.
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, data analytics, engineering, business, finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience and scope of the role.
Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off (PTO).
Flexibility for remote work.
