Manager — Logistics Operations South Branch
Location - Chennai
TheManager — Logistics Operations is responsible forend-to-end warehousing and secondary transportation operations for the South Branch, ensuring products are stored and distributed efficiently while delivering requiredcustomer service levels at anoptimized logistics cost.
The role manages logistics operations across amulti-state network spanning approximately 5–6 states, covering the complete flow fromstorage at warehouses/CFAs throughsecondary transportation to distributors and customers.
As akey branch leadership role, the position has significant responsibility forlogistics cost, service, capacity and operational performance across both warehousing and transportation.
Key Responsibilities
Warehousing Operations
Â
- Managewarehouse/CFA operations across the assigned geography, ensuringefficient storage and movement of goods.
- Support theidentification, evaluation and setup of warehouses/CFAs based on business volumes, network requirements, service expectations and cost.
- Optimizewarehouse capacity, layout, throughput, manpower deployment andoperational productivity.
- Work closely withCFA/3PL partners to driveday-to-day operational performance andcost efficiency.
- Ensure appropriateinventory handling, hygiene, GMP and applicablefood/product safety standards.
- Maintainoperational readiness forinternal, statutory, quality and global audits.
- Ensure adherence to applicable licenses, includingFSSAI, regulatory requirements and operating procedures.

Secondary Transportation
Â
- Managesecondary transportation from depots/warehouses to distributors and customers across the assigned geography, coveringapproximately 200 vehicles across the region.
- Plantransportation capacity based on business volumes, demand patterns and service requirements.
- Managemultiple transporters/3PL partners and ensure appropriatefleet availability and deployment.
- Drivevehicle utilization, transporter performance, turnaround time and overalltransportation efficiency.
- Optimizeroutes, loads and fleet deployment to improve productivity andcontrol freight costs.
- Manageday-to-day transportation disruptions and ensurecontinuity of customer service.

Cost & Service Optimization
Â
- Own and managekey branch logistics costs across warehousing and transportation, includingwarehouse rentals, CFA costs, manpower, freight and transporter payments.
- Balanceservice, capacity and cost, ensuring customer requirements are met without compromising overalllogistics economics.
- Analyzelogistics costs and operational KPIs to identifycost leakages, productivity opportunities and areas for improvement.
- Partner withCFAs, transporters and 3PL providers oncommercials, performance improvement and cost optimization.

Projects, Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Â
- Lead and supportnew logistics and warehousing projects, includingnetwork changes, new warehouse/CFA setups, transportation initiatives and operational transitions.
- Identify and implementinnovative solutions to improvewarehouse productivity, transportation efficiency, service levels andlogistics cost.
- Drivecontinuous improvement throughprocess redesign, automation, digital tools, data and new ways of working.
- Evaluateemerging logistics practices and technologies and assess their applicability to branch operations.
- Partner withcentral Supply Chain, Warehousing, Procurement and other teams to executelogistics transformation and productivity initiatives.

Partner & Stakeholder Management
Â
- Manage relationships withCFAs, transporters, 3PL partners and other logistics service providers.
- Supportevaluation, onboarding and transition of new logistics partners.
- Partner closely withSales, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Finance, Procurement, Quality and other internal stakeholders.
- Manageoperational challenges across the multi-state network, ensuringtimely resolution while balancing service and cost.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for alogistics professional with experience acrosssecondary transportation, warehousing and distribution operations, ideally within acomplex, high-volume distribution environment.

The ideal candidate should bring:

- Strong understanding ofsecondary transportation and distribution logistics, preferably across amulti-location or regional network.
- Hands-on experience intransporter management, fleet planning, capacity management, vehicle deployment andtransportation cost management.
- Good understanding ofwarehouse operations, includingcapacity, layout/design, manpower planning, throughput andproductivity.
- Exposure toCFA/3PL operations andservice-provider management.
- Understanding ofwarehouse compliance, GMP, audits and applicablestatutory/regulatory requirements.
- Exposure toFSSAI/food safety requirements would be an advantage for candidates from food/FMCG environments.
- Strongcommercial orientation and ability to understandlogistics cost drivers andoperational KPIs.
- Stronganalytical and problem-solving capability, with demonstrated examples of drivingoperational improvements.
- Ability to manageprojects and drivecontinuous improvement or innovation within logistics operations.
- Strongcommunication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in afast-moving environment and respond quickly tooperational disruptions.

Qualifications

- MBA / PG Diploma in Supply Chain, Operations or Logistics preferred.
- Relevant experience and astrong operational track record will be equally valued.
